Broward Beach Conditions

  • i am too....sort of..
my buddy just joined this boat club and has to do a few inshore trips before he can go off shore...so we cant leave the bay :@ oh well, he'll drag me around looking for anything..it isn't gonna be great, but it is still diving

if we stay north of mattheson we can grab bugs too?? hope we luck into something edible

    i like to spear fish

  • Hey guys, new to the site. I'm 18, an avid saltwater fisher, just getting into spearfishing, came across this forum. I use a 6 foot pole spear. The weather was too good not to go spearing today. I did a beach dive off Pompano. Viz was great. I saw 2 HUGE tarpon, jacks, snook, snapper, everything. The ocean was alive. Too bad snook are illegal to shoot because I could have killed 40 of them, literally. I did manage to get a nice mangrove and a yellow jack for dinner though.

Going in the AM. I'll report back. Hopefully I bring more home!

    Me and Cesar today.
We paddled out to the 2nd reef to start but the closing viz ran us all the way in to the 1st reef.
I had to quit at noon cause I'm workin again tonight.
    I got 2 smaller hogs
What a beautiful day to be on / in the water.

  • I dove friday evening after work in northern broward, it was my first time getting my new pursuit speargun wet. the viz was a crappy 15ish feet at best but I did manage to get a 20" cero. Thanks again dan I love the gun, I just need to practice loading.

  • I went spearfishing on Saturday morning. Terrible viz but it was also outgoing tide. I also went spearing this afternoon, high outgoing so the water was clearer. I shot two mangroves and two blue runners. I gave the b runners to some people who were fishing who were very grateful for them. I always like giving fish to people who can make a lot more use out of the fish than I can.

By the end of the day she was doing 90sec drops to the top of the 1st reef (23fsw) and lovin it. :D
I love teaching. The enthusiasm and excitement of a (bikini clad) student is contagious :thumbsup2:

I was solo today and started out on the 3rd reef, until the Navy sub tender forced me off the 3rd reef.
I only saw and speared 3 fish today, 2 hogs and a mac.

No fish died today, BUTT I got to spend 3 hours in the water with THREE bikini clad ladies that wanted to yak/freedive the first reef with me :thumbsup2:
Bikini clad females make WAY better students :thumbsup2:
We had a great morning with near perfect yak/freediving conditions and only lost one snorkel.
I think they enjoyed the day as much as I did, because they booked ANOTHER day with me "for more lessons". ;)

fishindude---VERY NICE job on the bugs sir. :toast:

No ladies with me today so I was back to killin fish
Tried to start on the third reef, but no sooner than I got there and was getting ready for my first drop and the sub tender came over and requested that I leave the area
Plan B--I went in to the second reef into a heavely hunted area and did not expect to see much fish but ended with 3 hogs, one ok mutton and one LARGE (for me) 29inch mutton (I love big STUPID good tastin fish)

On the way in I met putmeincoach on the first reef with his brand new OK Trident Prowler destroyin the bug population
