• I'm bored.... and have 5 and a half inch's of old Solingen steel. Thinking of just heating it up and doing a right shoulder brand.:@...with lots a good Irish whiskey of course.:toast::toast:

    Don

  • But..... now that I see that nice patina would be wasted, maybe I should find a good tattoo artist to render all the detail. I have no tats. What do my brother waterman think ? Should I get a good whiskey buzz on before I go?

  • When getting a tattoo you shouldn't drink, I heard that alcohol makes you bleed more and tattoo artists don't like that. But I don't think you'll need it, girls get tattoos :P and I think you meant just for the branding. Ouch indeed, you'll have to hold it nice and long to make sure the impression is good, and to do it yourself you gotta have some cojones. I say you've made it this far without mutilating your body so why start now.

  • Take this opportunity to explain what the is the purpose of that pretty trident.

Well.....blondie found the vintage trident in my foot locker and said, ''dam that is so freaking bitchin... What a great tat that would make'' .8)

Actually I was very close to letting my Tahitian friends on Raiatea do a primitive one until they told me I had to stay out of the water for 10 days. I said screw that mate, next trip maybe.

  • If I were to get a tattoo it would be tribal. I think about it from time to time.

Well if the chick says it's going to look cool then do it <img src= " height="23" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x">

Neptune's trident is tribal to me, I've been one over half my life;)

I'll do do Polynesian on the left arm. but the plane fare will be a bitch.

  • Tattoos look good when you're young but they get misshapen as we age. hah
My ex wife got a nice dolphin tattoo on her lower leg. My Filipino buddy told her (in Ilonggo)
"why did you get that tattoo? When you get old it will look like uga (dried fish)" !!

  • in my humble opinion the only tattoos that are worth getting are the ones that tell the story of your life...to add one every few years that speaks to you or who you were or who you want to be, that is the only thing I can imagine wanting always on my body

Really well put mate, that makes the thought of one closer to my heart. I have a few scars I look at and remember the time and place of the ones that still remain with me. Scars of adventure and good fights are part of a mans road map though life.

I agree, thats definitely my intention in all the tattoos I get. Sort of a steamer trunk, art gallery, and scrapbook forever on my skin. Hopefully by the time I am old and wrinkely I am running out of room. Some of them might look a little old by then. But the meaning will still be fresh.

The shape and angels on that trident would lend themselves really well to a traditional style tattoo. The solid color also makes it a good candidate for tribal style.
