18mm Band Recommendation

  • I have a Rob Allen 120 that I want to power with a single 18mm band. Anyone have a tried and/or trusted maker that they can recommend?

    Thanks

  • If you dont want to tie your own Hammerhead makes some tie in bands that arent bad. You can even get a hold of Riffe bands that size. I almost forgot but you can get RA bands that size too. They are some of the best. You can call Austin's dive shop. They can help you out.

  • I have the pursuit and love it, much faster load time than my 2 16's were. It is a workout though, make sure you don't cut it too short. Right now at the beginning of the day I load on the back tab but by the end of the day Im on the front tab haha

  • x2, I use 20mm bands on my rabitech 120. Different rubber manufactures have different rubber and some stretch a bit differently. I usually cut mine a bit longer and then cut them back as needed.

I'm with ya on this one Marco.:thumbsup2:
My Pursuit small hole is holding up very well.

  • 27" band 4" wishbone, center of band hole to back tab is 44"

is that an 18mm band? That is the length I use for 5/8 bands. Also, a 4" wishbone is too long and can cause problems with line wrapping in bands when shot. Cut it down to at least 3" and you can even go shorter. Thanks for the help

its a 19mm band, my 16mm bands were shorter than my 19mm. Never had a problem with my wishbone, but i'll keep it in mind. I've seen lots of guys use them longer than 4"

  • Rob Allen has a band recommendation chart.

Thanks, yeah, I know the tables, what happens is that not all behave the same bands, that if you stretch too its molecular estrcutura altered and this affects their performance, I want to know is if there is a point optimal elongation allowing the banda good performance without such damage, this band of ID 1/16 is atypical, has more latex, I understand that you can stretch more and as Dan says "hold the energy well".

  • I think what your looking for is 250% elongation which means the band is stretched to 350% of its original length. This is what a lot of major manufacturers use and its pretty stout. Some guys will take it beyond that but youll start to see a shorter life span of the rubber. Hope Don Paul chimes in, he knows his stuff when it comes to band rubber.

  • José, yo tengo esas ligas y son buenísimas. Vale la pena pagar un poco más por ellas. No te vas a arrepentir.

Translation: I use those bands and are very good. You won't regret.

Cortalas a x3. Luego siempre puedes recortar más.
