18mm Band Recommendation

  • I think what your looking for is 250% elongation which means the band is stretched to 350% of its original length. This is what a lot of major manufacturers use and its pretty stout. Some guys will take it beyond that but youll start to see a shorter life span of the rubber. Hope Don Paul chimes in, he knows his stuff when it comes to band rubber.

Yes, Looking for the best relationsship, but it seems that in this case is associated with muscle.

  • José, yo tengo esas ligas y son buenísimas. Vale la pena pagar un poco más por ellas. No te vas a arrepentir.

Translation: I use those bands and are very good. You won't regret.

Cortalas a x3. Luego siempre puedes recortar más.

Si GurúMarco :D, no dudo que son bandas de la mejor calidad que existe en el mercado y tu que las avalas :thumbsup2: las tengo en la mira.

  • These bands pursuit ID 1/16 OD 5/8, which is recommended percentage elongation (300%, 350%, 400% )

I run my rubber at 3 X specimen length or 300% elongation of the band. Dan's small hole 16mm rubber has been on my gun for two years and is still testing well. I do keep the bands covered when the gun is racked in the sun.

I have note books full of my data, but my testing methods will get some one killed, it was when I was young and dumb. The math I used is the same though.

  • Make them closer to 400%. Trim them back after a few dives.

  • This is bad advice, Just the sterioids talking.

How about 250 and trim back if needed?

    Now you're talking...only this guy could cock good 16mm at 400% elongation.:D

    Cheers, Don

  • Say,
    Initial length, L0=100mm.
    Final length, Lf = 300mm.

    Change in length, dL = Lf-L0 = 200 mm

    So, percentage elongation = 200*100/100 = 200%.
200% means the elongation is 2 times the original length, which is 2*100 mm.

When I say I stretch my bands to 300% elongation, that is a length that is 3 times the specimen length.

Lets take a piece of 5/8 10'' long, if I stretch it to 20'' that is 100% elongation. Stretch it to 30'' that is 200% elongation. Stretch to 40'' and we have 300% elongation or specimen length X 3. This is the elongation I us for max power on premium latex.

I'm done with da math.....Fri night and heading out :toast::toast:

  • It's good that there's a company that offers inexpensive rubber. But everyone needs to be aware that good rubber tubing costs money, and there is a performance difference. If you think anyone can get rich selling rubber tubing for spearguns, regardless of the price varying by a $1 or $2/ft, it's a funny idea. I only do it to provide a complete line of supplies, and I offer the best that I could find. I wish I didn't have to offer rubber because it's more hassle than it's worth, but on the other hand I need to keep good rubber for myself and my diving partners anyways.
