If you see my jeep down in Mexico feel free to roll up and help you self to an ice cold cerveza. Be safe out there in California's new network of cluster ~`~`~`~` zones.

Just my opinion but anything setting up DFG or any thing we are gonna do we should do VIA pm's. The enviros and DFG are all over the sites

with the gun thing we can no longer use it as the DFG knows we are probably trying to bait them

Lee and florida guys, keep an eye on what's happening to california. I've heard florida is watching us closely to see how they will go about their own mpas :(. Learn from our mistakes!
-
What were your mistakes? I think CA has a much higher population of enviro freaks. Attempts to do the same here would/should cause an uproar IMO. But we can't rule anything out and should be prepared.
-
Dan when that time comes you guys are going to want to talk to united anglers and the watermans alliance as well as the dive clubs down in southern california. I'll draft a list of things this week and send it to you.

I'm sorry for your loss guys. I'm hoping that some day you'll have a chance to get your hunting grounds back.

OK I saw this thread and read it all, and even followed some of the links and read the articles.... that being said I am still extremely confused about the situation. Living in Huntington beach I seem to be right in the middle of this and its the first i have EVER heard of it.... Can someone without political bias or anything haha explain to me what happened?
How can a privately funded coalition impose something like this without anyone voting on it?

The measure was buried in the fine print Titled ..Clean Water Act.. 1999

it was tough seeing my son look at me with a Hug smile , hooting and hollering "dad check out this Scallop" then seeing his face when he remembered it was the last day we would ever be able to do that together , I was holding back tears all day
Great picture Joe.
Laguna is a terrible loss to all of us who enjoy harvesting in the ocean. My family legacy from 1933 thru 2011.

What a legacy Mike, you are the flatty king. I knew what spots you liked and I kept to my own...I kind of stick and move late in the day as long as I don't see any one.
I think the only time we crossed paths on the sand was when I was with John Warren @ the surf spot in Oct many years ago. The beach goer's kept asking what kind of shark my 45 lb WSB was. I'll add more to our Laguna wall later I guess...I'm just plain pissed right now.All the best, Don

Hey Joe, I've heard Jan 21. any details? -
I just saw your collage last night Mike. You sure have a long history of spearfishing in California. I've only been spearfishing for a few years, but I thought I’d put together a collage of what I lost from the MLPA.
My favorite lobster, halibut, scallop, and white sea bass spots are all gone Each of these pictures is from a different day of diving. Today it would be illegal to duplicate any of theses dives below.
-
Hi Bamz , dont think it would be possible to have everything ready by the 21st , we should be ready to go sometime around the last weekend of February .. as soon as I know of anydetails ill be sure to post them to the board ... Joe

When legal actions brought on by user groups have come to a end, we the spearfishermen, the commercial lobstermen and line fisherman, need to have the largest organized wake for the Death of our American Rights to Fish. It needs to be a nice sunny day when the Main Beach is packed. Fishing boats, paddle boards, surf boards and lobster-men at the paddle out. Those that can't attend can have a toast to our long lost friend in sports bars out side Laguna and homes in Cali. Western Outdoor News and major media will be invited to this very sad day. Maybe Guinness would step up with some easing of the pain ? I'll personalty invite my heros; Dana Rohrabacher and Buzz Aldrin to the sadness.
Don Posted 11-30-2011Joe, Great minds think alike.:thumbsup2: I'm in except for any ''illegal'' fishing. Glad you have a date.:thumbsup2:
I'll call Dana. All the best, Don
