Pitch pine speargun build

    Speaking of that I have before tried to imagine what will be the effect of the sharkfin tabs passing through my grip, or the shooting line getting wrapped around a finger and jerking it. In either case it has potential to be unpleasant.

    believe it or not ' well used trigger mech ' is one of the reasons why i wanted to make my own trigger , i can set the amount of play in the trigger housing to my preference , adjust trigger pull and easily service and replace parts as i see fit , i am not putting down the trigger manufactures but i would 'trust' a trigger that i made and tested myself more than one i bought , plus when i was looking at the 'best' spearguns available like Riffe i taught that the trigger mech was to weak even though i know Riffe has a great record .

    i do have a question though , in your experience are the trigger mechs of those 'plastic' guns like Cressi and Mares any weaker than the trigger mech available from companies like Neptronics or Riffe because i saw a plastic line release on a Hammer Head Evo . Just asking .

    Weaker or poorly built?
    A reef mech has less holding power than a tuna mech but I don't consider that "weaker" as it is designed for a lesser load.
    The rob Allen cartridge for example has ss bits and is well made but I would not ever load three bands on it.

    Ive taken everything apart from *mech and trigger assembly on all of my guns, wong, koah, the mako, and every other gn i have too. I took apart my pneumaitcs to rebuild and install dry barrel kits as well. Trigger mechs are usually 2-3 pieces and a spring. Very simple stuff. I have been taking things apart my entire life.And most importantly, putting them back together.. Between the rental and my store my life revolves around me fixing all types of things..*

    hey guys i forgot to say that i tried to route the track on the pitch pine with a craftsman all in one cutter , which had a lot of play in its frame and damaged the pine blank so i may just do the first gun out of purple heart . i also have to buy a router looking at the Dewalt dw616 any suggestions .

    The router is less impt than the table and jigs you use build those well and your guns will be solid


    I would go with any brand you trust and the more hp, the less you will stress it over the use through its lifetime.
