Dude thanks for sharing. that is just plain sick. I never tought a bird like that can take on a wild dog or wolf. I can imagine on a normal house dog. But those dog fought back for nothing. Those claws are no joake. I bet they can kill a kid with ease. Me and my wife were sitting here the 7 minutes amaze of the power of those birds, just insane

It's one of those videos I'll probably watch over and over...

I cant wait to go to the office and show this to a dog lover that works with me. he keep saying that is the best protector there is. I will show him how his dog is the bottom of the food chain now:D. He will be so pissed. I will get me one of those to make his life miserable:laughing3: REVENGE

Rarely is death a beautiful form... but I do have to say it makes my methods look far less artisan. Much colder and utilitarian.

Aaron, thanks for posting that. It's hard to believe what I'm seeing, I'd think a dog/wolf could kill a bird like that with one bite and a shake. I still don't know what to think. Those are small wolves, similar in size to coyotes don't you think? I wonder if to train the birds they used weakened domestic dogs, puppies..
-
Dan, they don't seem to be the size of the wolves that you and I think of when we think of them. Closer to the Mexican variety.
They kill by asphyxiation and strangulation, they use the talons to either close off the throat or by gripping the chest cavity so the lungs can't expand. In one of the last still frames you can see where the eagles talons completely encompass the wolf's muzzle. That would also do it.As far as training, I talked to a Dr. this morning involved with falconry and he said it takes about 10 years to get a bird to that level of proficiency and they do it by allowing the younger birds to team with the older birds. He also said that their prey drive is such that anything fleeing will draw the bird's attention.Much like sight hounds in a way.
It is a truly incredible video...I'm awe struck by it.

I am really impressed with the might and sheer power of those birds. I can´t believe my eyes. A wolf almost killed one eagle though, he was so excited beating the bird to death that he was waving his tail!! then he got badly outnumbered by another eagle. That was an alpha dog i guess, powerful and aggresive. That is dangerous game indeed.

That was an impressive fight... the wolf met that bird head on as it dove after him.

He was gone with honour that`s for sure ...God bless nature childs!!!

FWIW, I just ordered the CD that the vid is based on .
If you have a wild bone in ya.... it's baby making music. Excellent. The entire CD stirs the soul.
-
Is it SHAMAN VOICES : a journey in the steppe? How about ripping it and uploading the MP3s?
Never mind, I already started downloading it

I'll do that .... as soon as I figure out how.
Stirs the soul, Dan. Especially primal spirits.:)

Yes, something about that vibration.. Not sure of when the best time to listen to it would be. Maybe before a hunt? They should have something like that for spearfishers. I'm not aware of any primal sounds associated with diving though.

Thinking something from the South Pacific.... I could watch the NZ "All Blacks" do the 'Haka' all day long for the same reason. Stirring... so that's something. But that would be where I would start . Something with a Polynesian/Micronesian influence.
Bad Azz ... some Native American stuff is great, unfortunantly alot of it all sounds the same. Even to my Native ears.:)

I'll make damn sure the CD is in my truck as I head out....

Let me know what your impression of it is...

It's calming and exciting/uplifting at the same time. I like it, maybe one of the few things that hold an illusion for me where all else has lost it.
Here's one of the songs.
