Hi there, I'm new to the sport of spearfishing but am excited for the adventure. My first experience spearing was in Hawaii last winter. I travel quite a bit to warm climates and have always enjoyed snorkelling and being in the water. I'm currently working on my PADI certification and recently got geared up for freediving as well. Hoping to find info on regulations in Alaska as I have been unable to find any as of yet.

Welcom!
The regs are saltwater, you must be fully submerged and regular sport fishing limits and regs apply. You can find it in the methods and means section of the regs usually in the first 6-8pages -

Just looked and the south-central regs are the only one to not list spearfishing in the state wide methods and means section, but it is listed on page 17

Welcome to Speardiver.
Fully submerged, what does that mean? That you can't throw a spear standing on a boat or a rock, or that you can't shoot floating on the surface?

It doesn't specify but what I've gathered from F&G is it's meaning to keep people from spearing air to water. -
