Made some flashers recently, here are a few.
there is the spoon, pretty classic, but bent in such a way that it spins as it spirals lazily down..looks like an injured fish, i added a snap swivel and 50ft of 100lb test spectra braid to a comb handle that I modified to accept the line. I also added a bit of holo lure tape to the end for color
it is a nice little rig and I would give it a 5 for ease of making and ease of use with the line..it with make th emid size snapper and grunts come to look and some grouper seemed to follow...we'll see what happens when the season is open:confused2:
next is the real winner. this is a stainless steel spatula blade that I cut up about 3 inches and bent at opposing angles....this thing rules. I added a bit og the tape to one of the blades as well.
this thing spins and throws off a TON of light..I throw it from the yak four or five times in a general direction and a big cuda appeared to follow..next spot it drew in a mack...with a lot of line or placed on an anchor line this is a great flasher design made for next to nothing..the spatula was from a dollar store and I used the handle to make an Iki spike..so two dive toys for a buck:thumbsup2:
the spatula blade is also meant to go on the snap swivel to have a line and be operated or hung from a float with a small loop knot in the line.
then there is the "disco ball" i thought this might just throw off enough light when attached to an anchor line, it is a nice spinner, but I think the design might have overstepped it's practical applications.

here are some pictures of the lure tape and the holoform tape that I referenced.

wow, that is the worst picture ever, looked better smaller, sorry, I'll try again in the daytime

So has anyone here tried these yet? http://www.deesdiamondflashers.com/index.html Seem much more affordable than the Rob Allens....
If it wasn't the worry about the chance of them being cut off by a cuda, shark, etc...would they be worth the $81?

HEy bro, what is that gorgeous piece of Gyotaku at the back of the pic! You should open a thread of Gyotaku DIY!

I like Flashers that have the added element of Noise. We make these. They're filled with Beads and Rattle. Around here I'll use a Stringer of these spaced every mtr over 1Omtrs.
