They wanted to dance! :thumbsup2:
It took a while to retrieve them after the shoots. Noy always are stone shots.
At the end, I got two wahoos on Saturday and one wahoo and one mahi on Sunday.
-
In my dreams. Thanks Marco :thumbsup2:

Nice pics, great fish! Captured from a GoPro?
-
Nice!
-
Damn, Marco! Those are some nice pics!
I especially like the first 2 pictures. They capture that exciting moment right before taking the shot! -

-
Now thats some proper hoos!! That Dolphin is no baby either...great weekend for you my friend!
-
Wow Marco. That's bad ass. I couldn't even SEE your boat after about 5 minutes into the vid.
What was going on in your head? Just curious. I was thinking....the boat is getting farther and farther....do I just go back for it and motor to my float? :@. Current?
You're good.
-
Nicely done! Those are some nice sized fish!
Do wahoo rip off easy? I see you played him softly and wondered if it was because of the shot or just how you have to play it with those fish. -
Wahoo, cero and spanish mackerel all have paper thin skin and soft meat. Marco the Wahoo Whisperer is one of the few who shoots them with a single barb. Most use a slip tip because they DO tear off so easily.
-
Yes Billy, as Hank said they rip off easily. Especially with flopper shafts in poor placed shots. So you have to play them nice and gentle until they're tired.
The wahoo in this video swam upstream the current so I wasn't worried about the return. I was looking backwards to see if my son was close in case it needed a second shot. But he was with Christian so I had to be more careful to avoid it to tear.
If you see the second video, that has just uploaded, that mofo swam downstream, and even if I called my "partners", no one showed up. :rolleyes1: So I was on my own again. This wahoo took off twice when I had the shaft in my hands!:@ The camera stopped recording as the memory was full. But I managed to put my hands in its gills at the third try.
It was a long swim back to the boat.
Then my wife asks why I want to sleep early on weekends. ... :rolleyes1::laughing:

Marco, sometimes after a deep drop at my limits in the blue I wonder about my ascent technique, is it recommend to pump for the surface hard or to relax kick to the surface? I do both but if I ever get into a desperate situation I wonder which would be the smartest option?
-
Always relaxed. You can do two or three strong strokes to break the inertia in the bottom and then keep swiming slow and easy until you break the surface. Do you re-breath the air in your mask? It helps a lot!
Another thing that I've never do but think could be a smart move to do if you feel you've gone too far, is to undo your belt while ascending while keeping the buckle in your free hand. In case "something" happens, your weight will drop free and you will pop to the surface :).
Anyway, I hope you never need to do so.
-
Great answer buddy, never could figure out how to get air out of my mask [emoji20] and with the low volume masks I use now that's not a possibility.
-
I do use a small mask myself. While ascending, try to breathe with your nose the residual air that you had previously blowed in to compensate the squeeze.
Is not too much, is not 100% fresh air, but hey, it's air and there is some valuable O2 in it!
This is one of those "little things" that make the big difference.
