New Beuchat glider shafts

  • Not sure, but i have to say. If your muzzle band and line wrapping setup isn't perfectly designed, those fins would catch, and probably slice some line or rubber.

Jack had that gun for 20 plus years, and it killed more than a few really large tuna, his gun designs were a long process of trial and error.

  • I'm personally impressed to see a design that is out of the box . I really like what I see.:thumbsup2:
    I'm going to get one.:D
We we... maybe it's the French in me.;)

  • Glad you like the design, shape ... now in a process of seeing the market reaction. Shark fins were manufactured after an ancillary SLIP TIP and its variants.
What we have tried to get the best penetration, more speed in the water layers avoiding lose the fall or curvature of the rod at the end of his career.
Besides having the slightest loss in the target

    <º)))))><

oh no doubt. I'm just saying you probably wouldn't want to weld some fletching onto your favorite RA shaft and "hope for the best." :laughing4:

Im definitely a fan of spearfishing innovation, (Ive got the roller guns to prove it) ;D I even have a few torelli shafts that ive ground down to look like a letter opener (for better penetration) I feel like Beuchat's gliding shaft is not much more innovative IMO.....anyway thoughts on tube shafts? I recognize the shortcomings (tip and overall shaft strength, how to attach line floppers and notches/fins) but i could see these flying pretty fast and true. (sorry a bit off topic)

  • Ramón a ti te queda más cerca:) consigue una y has unos tiros (de preferencia con vídeo) y ya nos dices, de este lado del charco está más complicado probar;) abrazo.

    Buen azul.

  • Man, this has totally changed my whole concept on leading fish. With a flared flopper, or this type of tip, you don't NEED to lead fish anymore.
If the fish is moving to your left, you rotate the handle of your gun to the left. Now the flopper will be on the left side of the shaft, create drag, and curve to the left with the fish. Holy SHIT !! I can't believe I never thought of this before. And even if you get a bent shaft…..maybe put TWO floppers so compensate. Of course, straightening the shaft might help too but…..

  • I think what would be cooler is a shaft that houses a slip tip "bullet" in the end. With a purposeful short single wrap. Upon reaching the end, ejects the bullet into target. Because that is just as magical as this shaft increasing accuracy by 4-5cm.

4-5cm at what distance? 30% further... huh??

Can someone just make an underwater railgun already so we can launch spears so fast they create supercavitation and just blow things apart? :thumbsup2:

I'd be willing to give it a try. who knows. maybe the thing is awesome. but I highly doubt it.

  • I tried to order one today but my local dive shop does not carry Beuchat . Back to the drawing board tomorrow

    Cheers, Don.

Holly shite I'm buzzed (whiskey) took me 3 times to spell Beuchat.

  • Lol. I've been trying to design a bullet, internal slip tip.... Basically because I don't wanna buy a slip tip. ( broke ) and no lathe...( because broke)
I doubt a force strong enough to launch a smaller projectile from a shaft, into a fish would be good for your shooting line/reel/ anchor, during the abrupt stop in motion at the end of the shooting line. It would be magical though if it was effective.

I have thought of engineering a spring loaded tip that pushes the slip tip through upon impact.... A little insurance on long shots... But then again maybe It'd be better to just work on my bottom time so fish come in closer.:toast::toast:

  • Josediaz Gracias compañero y recuerda que esta varilla no la veo para pescar en roca
cuando dispares fijate que hay detrás del pez :D

  • Hey Ramon,
Don't wanna hijiack your thread (don't know if you are a Beuchat representative?). But if this is out of place, then just ask Dan to take it down and I'll be fine with this.

But just wanted to share another new spear with you guys. It's from Sigal Sub and it's called the Ghost.
It's likely the most hydrodynamic spear I have seen but it also looks like a very fragile design with that huge groove milled out. I can def see it bending right below the flopper.
Straight line speed and accuracy should be good though.

But I wonder, since it doesn't seem to work without an o-ring, how much drag the ring re-introduces? I mean in theory, it's a bit like one step forward but half a step backwards with the o-ring.
That said, it does look like a very tiny ring...
