Does anyone know what is it about the physiology of the eyes in sea mammals, and other diving animals, that allow the eyes to not be adversely affected by saltwater? Animals like seals, otters etc.
Sea mammal's eyes & saltwater tolerance

Not 100% sure but if I had to guess though, I would think that they can withstand a slightly higher PH. Tears should be around a neutral PH(slightly basic) of 7 - 7.4 and saltwater is around 8 +/- .3..

Dolphins have viscous tears that protect eyes from saltwater.

it would be cool to dive without the need of a mask:cool2:
also a 30-40 minute bottom time would be nice also.
-
a lot of animals have a third eyelid that acts like a goggle lens, Idon't know which ones off hand

That would take the fun out of spearfishing though. No more huge cuberas, muttons or groupers in a couple year's time.:(

en maraton hay un hombre-cherna medio pescado que anda casando un wreck, le salen burbujas de la boca y tiene un par de aretes en las tetas.
