Yeah, his site is a bit hard to navigate but he is solid, he knows his stuff. First time I bought from him, shipping was not cheap but he kept looking and found a better alternative. All in all, very highly recommended:-).

    Diving Gecko,

New pump, piston & shock absorber are on their way :) and just as you said, the shipping was not cheap :@
Edo was very responsive in his communication so thank you again for your suggestion. :thumbsup5:

Here are some soft pix of the cam mount. The head is drilled and taped to except the GoPro mount thumb screw.

    Don,

Thanks for the pics :thumbsup2: Very simple and genius. I originally thought you had fabricated the mount as a pin on the end that connected to the gun's handle and tapped the end where the camera attaches. These pics explain it perfectly. :toast2:

Thanks for the wealth of information and confidence Gecko. Based on the info you provided, I should be able to keep the gun maintained for a while. :thumbsup2:

I found the hand pump and ordered it from Edosub. Not sure what shipping cost is going to be yet but they said they would send me a quote. I may write to them to see if they can get me a piston and shock absorber as well to have as spares.

    Don,

That gives me a lot to go on. Thank you!

I used the gun last Sunday at 18bar to hunt for Hogfish in shallow water and couldn't get over how easy it was to load, aim, quite (for a fart gun) and how well balanced it was in the water. There are a few things that I didn't like but most of them can fixed. Here are my dislikes from the stock gun:

Gun came with a 6.75mm Stainless Shaft but I would prefer a 7mm Hardened Stainless (aka Spring Stainless)

The Slider holes where the shooting line threads have burs that started to cut through the mono (I see some polishing in my future):cool2:

The valve at the rear of the barrel comes in contact with saltwater and the drift pin must be removed after each use to rinse the area thoroughly. This concerns me as I can only imagine after a while the drift pin will have very little tension to stay in place (the GoPro mount may solve this issue)

Parts are hard to find since Aqualung bought out OMER. I was able to find an O-ring kit and a Valve from old stock but Pistons, Shock Absorber, Inner barrels and the Hand Pump are near impossible to find in the States. Aqualung has informed the LDSs that I deal with that they don't plan to import any parts for these because there simply isn't a market for them (:grogan3:). I wrote to Aqualung about it last Friday and I've still not heard anything back.:confused1:

    Edited to fix the bulletpoints.

    Hey Don,

I recently acquired a new to me Airbalete and I'm having some fun with it. I couldn't help digging up this thread and trying to understand the GoPro mount you fabricated. I want to to make something like yours but I don't have a lathe and wondered if you can share any advice or ideas on how I could mount a camera on mine. :)

    Thanks,

    Hank,

Good luck with the new parts.

I use a tube of Marine Grease and a cheap brush and lather it up on the hubs, lug nuts leaf springs, and "C" clamps. I do this about twice a year and rinse with fresh water as soon as I get home after every outing. My trailer is aluminum framed so I don't worry to much about that but I do rinse it. Also, I don't have brakes  so if you or anyone uses this method I would say be very careful not to put grease anywhere that might contaminate the friction material or disks. Not sure how long it will preserve it as I just starting using this method about a year ago. The previous owner used to do it this way and although my trailer looks like shit it seems to be holding up very well.:)

Hello everyone. It's been while since I've had anything worth posting but I got one of these mounts from Marginatus and thought I'd share with you all my thoughts:

First I have to say that the transaction went very well. I paid with Paypal and Marginatus stayed in contact with me through the whole purchase, shipping, install. Thank you for the awesome product and customer support!
I purchased it in mid October and received it in less than two weeks later. I installed it and made the following video primarily to show where I felt the mount needed improvement and also how I had installed. Have a look:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgsgOiEGah8

Since then unfortunately I have only been spearfishing once ( job and weather are really getting the way of my hobby :P ) but I think I got enough footage to show the new POV in the water that this new mount allows for . Here is a video captured in 1440 res with the new POV:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6zKwE6xYb8

All in all I'm very happy with the mount. The new POV is more like what the spear fisherman sees. The install was a breeze even if I modified it a bit to reduce the tilting and Marginatus has taken this input into consideration to continue to improve future models but I'll let him explain what those changes are.

:) I'm now focused on the mask mount and the universal gun mount... after these are set I can give some more attention to this. Even if there's not much interest on this I'll make one for you if you want :)

Thanks very nice of you considering the low interest level.:thumbsup2:
Best of luck with the other mounts.

    Hey Rusty,

I've never traveled with mine but always assumed that it could be a problem as most airlines don't let you fly with a pressurized container. I think just the doubt that it can be an issue would turn me off from traveling with it. In addition, if it breaks a seal or anything else for that matter, I would assume it will be more difficult to repair than any band gun.

Mine is a Cressi 100 I inherited from my father so it will stay in my collection but from what I have researched , the loading effort to power ratio is bad in comparison to Mares and the Seac.

    My 2 cents:)

I hope you decide to produce at least one. Who knows maybe your original design would be small enough to leave on all the time and not interfere with aiming.

Storage is what I had in mind. But I guess a spare shaft holder for those expert freeshafters will work too.

I like the idea for storage (as a separate mount as to not add bulk).
I can't comment on free shafting. I'm definitely not one those experts. :D :attack1:

how about having the top part reduced to 2mm? or a cut-out could be made ...

After some thought, a notch might affect your aim. Especially if the mount moves from getting bumped. Maybe just getting the material as thin as possible would be best.
I like the minimalist idea in hope that you wouldn't have a need to remove the mount when not using the camera yet have the option to easily remove it should one preference that.

Might as well add to it a retaining clip for the spear :)

Do you mean to hold a spare shaft while spearfishing or for storage?

Thanks for starting a new thread.

    I like it a lot:thumbsup2:

There two things however that I would like in a mount (not a must but would be nice in my opinion) but I don't know if it's possible:

    1. An easy way to remove the mount. No tools and with gloves on.
    2. A mount that would have little to no blocking of the view while aiming. I don't see well even with contacts on so I need all the help I can get. ;)

    Maybe something like this:

    Just checked it...
the hinge and the cut-out are straight forward but I need to think about the quick release system and what kind of solution people would be interested in...
    Any ideas are welcome :)
I should probably create a separate thread...

I'll follow you on the new thread for the pneumatic mount.
    Re-rail: love the C4 mount. ;)

For 1, it could have a system like the gopro case hinge... (or like on of those jars lock - same principle)
But one of the reasons I wanted to make one to use on the C4, was to have one with such a small footprint that it could just be mounted on the gun even if i wasn't using the camera...
For 2, it could have a cut-out on top like it would need to have to mount on a gun with a track/rail

    Those are great ideas:thumbsup2:
I updated my last post with an image while you were posting a response. My apologies.:(

    Hummm air gun...
    Sith
Did you noticed I mentioned that in my last post?
You might like this (check pics)

To remove "wobblyness" it's better to have less parts and a tight fit.. the safety plug can help too.

    I like it a lot:thumbsup2:
