Unedited video wahoo catch with my 11 year old son Alessandro

  • This is a video I got on Sunday while diving a FAD with my youngest son Alessandro. I have been recording lately and probably will put together a nice footage, but wanted to share with you guys my pride.

Here I show how a FAD looks like, how do I attract wahoos and how this little mofo knows hot to handle in the water.

He's going out with me and my pals every weekend for two years now and has seen how things are done in the water. This time I wanted him to participate in first person. I let him work the fish and only took charge when I realized that he wasn't retrieving it fast enough.

It is amazing how Ale behaves in the water. He did exactly the same things one of my pals would do in the same situation. And the best of all is that he enjoys it a lot! :)

Franco (the older) is very good too, but this time he didn't came because went to bed late... :rolleyes1:

    The video:

And the pics. Ale is handling his fish.

    Hope you enjoy. ;)

  • bien Hecho Marco! Well done. Is that Maiquetia in the background? It's great that you can dive close to home and even better that you can dive with your kids. Your son will soon be as accomplished as his Dad :thumbsup2: te felecito!

  • A big congrats to both of you. Nothing more holesome than spearfishing with your son(s):toast:

    Muy bien echo Ale:thumbsup2:

  • Great video and pics of you and your son Marco. Making awesome memories for sure, I hope to do the same with my son when he is old enough.

  • that boy is a star!! what was the clutch you were using to bring the fish in?

  • No not chum...lol... We use same set up here with flashers and chum but I put my fish up my sleeve as up my leg as you did would freak me out thinking about teeth and my leg which I cant see when swimming :D
No your son seemed to be moving the float forward on the fish with a rig(clutch) mechanism.

  • Ah! Now I get you.

No. No clutch needed for wahoos. The float is connected to the floatline by a Tuna clip with a swivel.

I was telling him to retrieve the fish when it stoped running, but he was so stoked with the ride that wasn't paying attention to my instructions. So I took over and retrieve it.

I wanted him to do everything, but at one point I thought we could loose the fish if not handled properly.
