I was wondering what can I do to improve my breath-hold and dive time? Cardio works in the Gym? Pool exercises? Any advice on what yall do to train you lungs for better breath-holds? Also, I have trouble removing my snorkel mouthpiece after making a breath-hold. Any advice on a successful removal on the snorkel mouthpiece?

My understanding is that freediving after scuba diving is a NO NO because after scuba diving you have micro bubbles all over your system (thus the no fly for 24 hour rule). When you freedive down to depth those bubbles get squeezed down in size. When you then kick to the surface at rates much faster than you would on scuba those bubbles expand very fast, which can cause problems.
I'm totally with you on that. That's pretty much exactly how I've been told in the past. The nitrogen bubbles in the bloodstream expand when coming up faster than you would on scuba and thus squeeze out the oxygen going to the vein and you pass out.
I just wanted to be totally sure on how others handled their business. There are guys in my club that freedive after scuba to like 20-30ft for mangroves. I have been know to do that too. I'm just trying to see if that not a good practice to be doing after scuba. I am all about SAFETY and I want to do my part in protecting myself out at the rigs and also the wrecks when i go to florida.

What is a comfortable freediving depth for you? Let's just say you feel good at 30', just for discussion. How long does it take to ascend from 30 feet? Maybe 20 seconds? That's an ascent rate of 90 feet per minute. Would you ascend at 90 feet per minute on scuba?
heck no. scuba i follow below my bubbles.

Okay here's a big question. Is it alright to freedive and scuba dive the same day spearfishing? I've heard that freediving first before scuba is safe, but is there a real risk to health or SWB when doing it after scuba.
Sometimes we go out to the deep rigs first to get amberjack and grouper, and then work our way in shallow. So freediving the deep rigs isnt an option, so we use scuba to go deep.

Some people mention too that it wasn’t easy to loaded because it doesn’t have a butt end, but when I used it I didn’t found any trouble with that, But anyway I got some extra time this week to figure out a way to make it easier, so I’m showing here a good idea on what to do to solve this issue. I bought online a butt end and adapted to the gun. It’s easy to do just make a hole in the back and another one for the pin(check the pics).
where did you find it online. i would like to get one. would i be able to easily hip-load it with the extension?

Got about 2 inches of snow last Friday here in Central City, Louisiana about 5 mins outside of north Baton Rouge.

You have to try different footpockets. Only when you find one that fits you well will you understand how poorly the other fit you. You can also play with sock thickness. I hate socks though..
i wish we had a freediving shop around but the shop we have dont keep freediving fins in stock they only will order them for you which sucks b/c i'd like to be able to try different brands and sized fins/socks, etc.

My foot wiggles inside the foot pocket some though. Maybe it's just getting use to the flimsy rubber footpocket.

It's 5/8" and 16mm, and they're the same.
I'm horrible with sizes thanks for the info.

Slide the fin keeper up on your ankle, put your foot in the footpocket, slide down the fin keeper, loop one of the straps under the sole of the footpocket.
K. That's what I thought. I did that but wasnt sure if it was right. I have the large fin keepers and it felt insanely tight. It would mess with circulation will it?

Just got all my gear in today. The 44/46 Picasso Blackteam Fins fit great. I got 2mm socks and large fin keepers. How do I properly secure the fin keepers to the fins? I know how to put them around my ankles. Any pics that you can add would help me see. I know it's a simple process just need some help from those that know.

I have twin-16mm bands on my Rob Allen120. What's the power difference b/w twin-16mm bands and twin-5/8mm bands?

Greek, pneumatics are so powerful!!
Fishmaster, those jbls are underrated, in good hands those are pretty capable guns for the money.
Fuzz, again, I can´t beat your logic. Totally agree, the only thing I was arguing is that a 110 can kill a big Perro right away.
You know guys, there´s a spearfishing myth around, that some commercial (freedivers) use short spearguns with no barbs on them for holed up fish and even Fuertes, if they don´t get the stone shot, the shaft just comes out. As unhetical tha it may sound it makes sense if you don´t have decent terminal gear.
yea they'll take down some of the big perros (dogs).

Thank you boys!! I just counting my pennies for new stuff : speargun, wetsuit and a freediving watch!!
I'm gonna get the MANTA Freediving/Scuba Watch since I do both and possibly a blue camo wetsuit from Dan once he gets them completed. The fabric looks nice just waiting to see it full suited up on someone.

I've used a Riffe Hawaiin in the past. If I had the money I'd buy one and fix it up with a reel and would be smoking some fish with it. That's a good gun just expensive!
