Wow 29 pages! Funny that I was going to put a tovarich on that little 70cm Cyrano. And what's even more funny is that today I actually needed it to shoot a mangrove out of a hole.
Pneumatic speargun mods

Always loaded pneumatics on board :0
You'll have no arguments about the short range penetration power of a pneumatic from me. I shot through a turtle shell once with that old Cyrano 970. Another advantage is the shafts are cheap or easy to make.
You bet Dan.. I had a Rack on my port stern corner that held the the gun muzzles up and slightly angled aft.
The only guns that ever mis-fired were the big 14O stens when my friend pumped them too hot and left the
plastic muzzles cooking in the hot Cali sun.:0:0 One time a sear failed while we were having lunch sending
a 8mm shaft and barrel into a low oribt.:0 Most of this all ways happened far off shore so we were the only ones at risk.
Cheers, Don Paul -
Don, that's crazy with any gun, but more so with a pneumatic. What was the reason for keeping them loaded? They load pretty fast in any case.

I dive 60 to 100 miles off shore with a live boat and when you jump into a boiling bait ball you need to be cocked
and ready to rock when the boat pulls away. I was with a very famous diver once as a 250# Blue fin swam around him on the surface until the last band was cocked. I run 3 to 4, 5/8 bands on by game gun.
and when we are chasing birds and bait you have to stick and move a lot.

Hey Dan.. Could you tell me where I could get one of those compact line retainer/slide rings that you used? I'd like to get one for my Cyrano. That thing looks way nicer and more functional than the stock parts. Thanks!

While diving I found what it looks like a Cressi-Sub SL 100 (it measure 100cm end to end). I would like to retrofit it with a Mamba, Kara-yo or Tovarich Kit mentioned but can't find any shop that sales them. Where do you purchase these kits?
Also, any good local shop in South Florida that service Cressi Guns?
Is it even worth it? I currently use Riffe but grow up with pneumatics (Nemrod guns) and have fun memories of them.
Please let me know

If you speak spanish, I can get you in contact with Kara-yo, Tovarich manufacturer. He will also help you out to put the Cressi back to work.

The piston adapter on the butt of the spear is ground down for a looser fit into the piston. This reduces the loss of power when the shaft leaves the piston. It also allows me to remove the spear from the gun while it's still in loaded condition. Last I changed the line release to the right to be consistent with my band guns and allow wrapping of the shooting line the same way; holding the gun with the left hand and wrapping with the right.https://spearfishing.world/image/Cyrano08Slider-1.jpg
All I'm missing is the flotation device I previously mentioned. If someone sources one please let me know.
I was also trying to solve that problem, grounding down the butt, but it is better to put plastic plug into the piston:
