Plastic fins too.

hehe ..40 meters. the guy is over 50 too. he comments on the youtube video.
i think at this depth it becomes more of a mental block
-
I can't see the video where I'm at sooo what exactly do you mean by the mental block? The depth? I would imagine that the equalizing part must suck too.
The guy is over 50 years old?? -
yes:oldman2: there is still hope for you:D
after a certain depth your head puts restraints on you going deeper. your body fears the unknown and it messes with you mentally. if you normally dive 60-70 diving in 90 will automatically trigger anxiety which will screw your whole dive up even if you have the air for it. a panic at a depth like that will be trouble. -
Wow, a variable weight dive, and he still kicked all the way down. I love how he's so slow and relaxed thought. You can see the cameraman kicking furiously on the way up, and the diver is still slow and stead. Awesome.

Oye,
el viejo se esta poniendo en shape. Y son 38 nada mas. -
is that thing he drops an extra weight? I was wondering about that...definately an impressive dive.
where did his shaft go? he dove with a loaded gun and came back with the rubbers flapping around, what happened?

I think that some explanation, from the more experienced guys here, should be made about that type of diving(pendulum). It is very dangerous to think that you can just overweigh yourself, with any amount of weight, and drop it at the bottom to come back easier/quicker from a much deeper dive.
Maybe a new thread??? -

The cameraman was probably kicking harder since he didn't use a drop weight... so he was more negative coming up.

I hate you, Harold.

It took him a long hot minute just to reach the bottom!! what kind of gun is he using anyway, looks like a T2o handle to me.
-
Looks like he took another shot at something under the rock ledge, cause I thought I saw two lines down there.hell,50 still young,70 now thats another story.
TRUST me guys ,you'll be screwing better and diving better when your 50.

If you guys want to see some deep spearfishing and pendulum dives look up Alberto March.
-
Yeah pendelum dives are incredible to watch, obviously easy getting to depth but a bit scary trying to get back to the surface from so deep, ExtremeSpearfishing.com has lots of videos of many pendelum dives and 2:30 breath holds as well.

The original Sponge divers in Greece use to use a similar way of diving called a Skandalopetra.
The idea of the Skandalopetra(Petra/Stone for short) was to use a hydrodynamic shaped stone of around 10 kg tied to a rope. They would hold on to it on the way down, do their work, and then they would get pulled back up by the guy or guys on the boat. No Swimming down or up.
If your Cuban you've heard of cordelear or cordeleando which is a similar way of spearfishing.Check this vid out of Nitsch.

hi guys,
Variable weight fishing looks always appealing but there are few tricks that are very important! Most important is the float line. It must be a floating one and no thinner than 8-10mm. Tangling at a bottom of 30m+ is never funny believe meIdeally, it should not be used as a tool to go deeper but as a safety instrument to make more relaxed and comfortable dives. It is always a great idea to have such a rig in the boat in case a fish caves up
-
I believe polyfoam floatline would be great for this application http://spearfishing.world/floa…8-good-for-floatline.html I used to always carry 40 meters of this in my gear bag in case we ever needed to do a recovery or cordelero style diving, but never got to use it so I don't bring it any more.
