  • Wellcome Bretto. Looking forward to see pics of your work! Nice avatar too, what are those? Sea basses?

Thanks mate, I'll start a thread and get some pics up soon. The fish in my avatar are Mulloway/Jewfish. I think they are a bit different to the sea bass species. Here is a couple more pics...

  • Wow those are big and juicy. Are they difficult to spear? Do they fight hard?

They are pretty hard fish to approach at times especially when they are schooling up because genrally once one fish spooks it takes the whole school with them, so you need to be very stealth with your approach. When they are in caves or holed up they are a more docile and easier to shoot, you also find them a lot of the time hiding out in the washy areas around certain headlands. They are a pretty elusive fish around here and are hard to find at times but once you work out the right places to find them and the right times to look you start seeing a few more of them and things start coming together. I suppose any fish will fight hard if you don't hit it in the right spot but yes the big ones do put up a nice fight at times :D The fish in the pics were shot off a wreck on the sand and was out of a school of 100+ fish all around the same size! Was definitely one very awesome experience to encounter, for me nothing beats freediving wrecks... I love it!!!
