Speardiver Carbon Fin first impression

  • I recently got a pair of The Speardiver Carbon Fins from Dan. Today was the first day I have been able to try them out. WOW!! These things are the Ferrari of fins. I wore them for about two hours diving in 50 feet and absolutley love them. I then put on my Cressi LD3000s for comparison. They felt like I had a couple of bricks tied to my feet. All I can say is start saving your lunch money now because these fins are worth every penny.:toast::toast:

  • Bigger is better. If Dan made 130s I would probabally have a pair:crazy: I normally dive with DiveRs. I like them a lot too but these new carbon fins are like not wearing anything at all. Light and powerful. Me likey!!

Can't wait to hear a report after use and how the stiffness rating of the carbon is compared to the DiveR.

I also use DiveR medium. I was checking out the Pursuit fins trying to decide which felt more like the diveR.

    They're beautiful fins. Sooo lite. . .

  • Thanks the report, I'm going to try to sell some junk I don't need. I would like to see Dan do the
Pursuit logo in white for us Cali boys. The Big Yellows here would go ape Shite for the white logos, and I could leave off the lure tape I've been using.
    Cheers, Don

  • Don, I can put on the logo for you in white or holographic. I can also make it bigger. Just get me a pic of the preferred holographic color, maybe like the ones below? If this is something that people want I'll offer it as an option. Let me know fast so I can order the material.

  • These are my first carbon fiber fins. I have two sets of DiveRs (one medium and one stiff) and a pair of Cressi 3000s that I keep in the boat as spares. I dove the Cressis for the last 30 years and love the foot pocket and durability that they offered. I got a pair of DiveRs about two years ago with the Picasso pockets and liked them so much that I got a second pair.
My main bitch about carbon fins is the durability. Everybody and I mean everybody I know has had or is having issues with their carbon fiber fins breaking. I am hard on equipment and will opt for durability over performance everytime. These fins appear to be extremely well made and durable. I dive every week and will be a good indicator of the fins reliability.
The 100s are the same size as the DiveRs.:toast:

  • Redtide, stop pushing off the bottom with your fins ;)

Most of the new carbon fins in the market are very durable.

  • Really? Go to the nearest dive store specializing in freediving gear, grab any of those $500 new durable carbon fins (which ones are they exactly?), walk up to the counter with it and stand in front of shop owner, then bend them like I do mine touching the front edge to the back, or put them on the floor and walk on them with your shoes, let me know if you had enough time to hear snap crackle pop before the shop owner tackled you.

Yeah, try it with C4's its scary how they make that cracking sound.

  • I'm not saying that the Speardiver blades are the only durable carbon blades. What I am saying is that it's one thing to talk about it and another to actually put the blades through some rough treatment. I haven't seen anyone yet with enough confidence in their carbon blades to do what I do with the Pursuit blades every time I show them to someone.

  • Dan,

I have no doubts that your fins are awesome. But there are some really nice fins out there. If you go to the expo, check out XXone Anax fins or bleu tec fins.

My Dapiran fins are very good quality.

I talked to a high end dive shop out here today, he really wants to see the fins after I use them and give feedback. The top image of the holographic, but 100% larger would be the Shite.:thumbsup2:
We just have those little girlie Barrys out here that don't bite. Now if a 500 lb Mako pulls up in my 6:@ the fins
    are coming off.;)

  • Even if I won't shoot my fins as you do, I've being using my C4's for 7 years now. Just don't walk over them, don't jump from the boat with them and don't push off the bottom.

  • Marco, that's the kind of stuff I'm free of thinking about with my fins.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Harry, have you actually used any of those fins, and more specifically have you put them under stress? I have no information about the XXone or Anax but I do about the bleu tec; they break.
