Dog days of summer

  • JC & myself took out the repowered comet for a little putting around behind key biscayne. Got out late and had to head in early, but we managed to put some fish in the box. Shot a nice dog snapper that took 2.5 hrs to retrieve in a ripping current, while fending of sharks and eels. Damn that was tiring. I think between the 2 of us we must have made over a 100 dives to get it out of the cave.

Sorry for the crappy pic, not up to the usual standard, but only had a cell phone...

    Dive safe,

  • Nice dog. I gave JC a few of my old numbers from that area and one of which I told him held dogs who loved to peek and hide. I wonder if that was the spot. Comet delivers again!

  • nice determination saving/getting your fish
A lesser man would have just given up:)

I gotta give props to JC for helping me out retrieving the fish. The current was fierce, and I'd been out of the water so long, that my legs were like jello by the end. It was a true team effort.

Note to self When you shoot a nice fish in a hole, make sure you can get it out through the same hole. The fish was simply to big to fit through it with the way the shaft was situated. The angels were all wrong. We even used a gaff to no avail...

Rolo, close to one of your spots at the south end of the Key. Found the dog house while chasing a BIG black that got spooked while JC was towing me around. Good area with lots of life. Should still be plenty of life on it, as we spent all our time trying to get the dog...

On a side note, I saw 3 blacks today, all in 35ft or less, in an area where I've only seen a handful in the last 2 years. Maybe the closure has relieved the pressure a bit. They were still skittisch as hell though.

I like your style mate,:thumbsup2: Like you and your friend I believe if we kill something, we need to make every effort to put it on the plate. I battle seals, sharks the a-holes that say.... ''if you have any extra bug laying around, me and the wifey will get rid of them for you.''..... I never have any ''extra fish'' but I very
happy to share and feed family and friends with out a pay check and down on their luck.

  • I love that pic.

Getting a fish that is in a cave
and requiring so many dives have
killed a lot of people, mostly in europe
    and the fish being grouper.

knowing you, am sure you would
not leave that fish to die in vane.

    Good eating.
