I'd like to buy a good air rifle, and don't know anything about air rifles. What's a really good one?
Good air rifle?

benjamins are great, i bought one when i was a kid (i won't tell you how long but it's "vintage") and it still shoots strong. i use to pump it 10 times and a .22 caliber pellet would go through a piece of 1/2'' plywood from 20-30 yards not to mention pigeons. you could see it in some of the pics i post in my shop, ready for pigeons.

You can pump the air guns more than once?

you didnt know that? did they not let you have airguns groing up in soviet controlled ugoslavia?
-
I'm no more from Yugoslavia than you are from Azerbaijan. Looks like you don't know much about air rifles either, otherwise you'd have recommended one.

how did you choose azerbaijan? i lived with a foreign exhange student from there,, they hate armenians,, and your right i dont know about pellet gus but i also had a benjamin when i was younger but it was .20 not the .22.. it was nice but hard to find the correct pellets and it wont shoot bbs.
and metelins correct it shot easily through thin surfacces and doves -
Dan,
Google RWS. There are some customs for Olympic shooters, but you probably do not wish to spend that much. -
GAMO, for the price, cannot be beat.
I recommend 850-1250 fps, with a lot of the market selling good spring loader single action breaking barrell models.
the pump ones are nice but in my opinion have too much work for too little gain.
here is the one i have
http://www.airgundepot.com/gamo-hunter-pro.htmli would be happy to lend it to you to see how you like it and such...my scope is not sighted in, but I could let you use that too

How far you planning to shoot at?

About the length of my back yard But if I'm going to get something why not really good for all eventualities.

I have the Gamo Whisper VH. It is a great gun. The price for Gamo guns are great BUT there a few changes you must make for them to reach their potential.
1. They need a new trigger. the GRT III trigger is absolutly the best upgrade you can make for the gun. It will reduce the trigger pull from 6lbs to a little over 1lb. Do a google search on this product and see how many rave reviews there are. http://www.charliedatuna.com/ The best part: its only $32
2. The scope and mounts are crap. As soon as you unpack your Gamo throw these items in the trash can and put on a real scope and mount. I have the leapers mounts and Scope. No matter which scope you decide on Make Sure it is Airgun Rated. If it is not airgun rated the scope will not hold a zero and will most likely break. This is due to the reverse recoil of a break barrel Airgun.

Gamo varmint hunter whisper.... is powerful and kept the environmentalist lesbians next door from calling the cops when I eradicated the iguanas in my yard. If your ok with the noise I would suggest a .22 cal pellet rifle.
-
just get a 22 rifle and use sub sonic or cb longs the cbs are quieter than most pellet guns

philWhere he lives he would be in whole lot less trouble if he's found with a pellet gun.

I bought one at a "Spy shop" here for 199 $ and it kills iguanas very well. Its from China....
