Kumu (parrot fish) they're green.
Kumu is a goatfish, red.
Uhu is the word for parrotfish... & they range from blue/green for females to red/brown for males.

I like Kanaloa. My question is whether naming a wetsuit after a deity would seem pretentious / have a negative impact on a Hawaiian?
Thanks for info fuzz, I find it interesting.
To an English speaker Tako would sound too much like Taco. Maybe something that flows better. BTW what does no-ka-oi mean? For those who don't know it's one of Riffe's speargun models.
Fuzz has the funniest joke about it, I can´t remember hahhaha something pertaining a Whale or something

Generally not a negative, as long as it's respectful.
Not sure if you knew this already, but Kanaloa is a model the Omer Cayman speargun series.

Oh, not my joke, but something about the known challenges of shooting Riffe mid-handles.
Their other guns shoot well, but stock... the mid-handles are notorious underballasted.
So the discussion was something like:
"What does 'no ka oi' mean?"
"well... having shot it... I'd guess it's Hawaiian for 'no can hit a whale'"
Didn't know that about the omer, thanks. How long has that speargun model been out? Still doesn't preclude me using it for a wetsuit.

About 2 yrs? Previously, it was the Omer Cayman LE
Moana Koa means "Ocean warrior" then? Wow, that´s some kool name :cool2:
Thanks Fuzz. Interesting explanation.

oops. you're right. Thanks.
Hey Dan, its Chad from Hawaii..You could use Kanaloa w/ no ill effect. You could also use "He'e" also since its brown and camo. That would be a better fit than Kanaloa. He'e (pronounced Hey-eh) is Hawaiian for octopus. Tako is actually Japanese for octopus.
BTW- there are many locals that speak the Hawaiian language. You can even major in Hawaiian Language at the University.
Thanks Chad. I'm almost sold on the octopus idea. Is there another way of spelling hee that makes it easier to figure out the pronunciation?
Just put the phonetics too
He'e (hey'-eh)- Hawaiian for octopus. So named because these suit are camo as f$&k just like an octopus
