Dare I say that YOU, HAU, are the Mack Daddy? <img src= " class="smiley" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x" height="23" width="23" loading="eager" data-tooltip="biggrin" aria-label="biggrin">

Good to see you managed the pic

-
Rhodyhunter--thanks, but I pale in comparison to some here sir
Interesting, the shot on that mac was straight through his guts. I pulled the trigger, the spear hit the mac straight THROUGH his guts and the whole spear toggled on the far side of that mac. All he did was turn nose up and quiver. That is the second mac I have intentionally gut shot with GREAT results.
(I'll do an autopsy in a minute and see if the spear hit his spine of not)Dan--its still messed up. I had to put the picture in another folder as I cannot fine the "Spearfishing Pictures" folder to move the picture file to. Thanks for your help. Much apprectiated

http://www.safmc.net/FishIDand…gy/tabid/296/Default.aspx
no size listed,,The biggest reported porgy was 30 inches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW, I've never seen them past 16 in Fort Lauderdale.
-
mike-no problemo,,
i was thinkin the same thing,, it also says they can live very deep, i imagine the big big ones were caught in slightly deeper waters -
I've seen some big ones in Cuba in very shallow water. The big ones were impossible to catch. To get any kind of porgy you had to be very good.
-
porgies r gonna die today

The current kicked our butts today
we got few fish again today
summer thunderstorms ran us in early today:(
I have given up on the instinct/past knowledge/estimating method of finding the fish. Today I installed my dual beam/color sonar/fishfinder/GPS/reef maps unit in my scupper pro. NOW, "fish r gonna die".
Other than the screaming current, no fish and lightening flashes it was a great yak freedivingspearfishing day
-
I think the thunder/lightning scares the fish. I remember H&L it is very hard to catch fish when there is lightning or fireworks. We found out about the fireworks a couple years ago when we fished July 4th.
-
seaweed---I'm sure you are correct about the thunder and lightening scaring the fish. Thanks
spearos--- my favorite weather station http://evsboca.netfirms.com/index.htm
has been down for a while so I called them and talked to a nice guy--Nick--who answered my questions and said he'd get the station working tomorrow AND he informed me that they have ANOTHER weather station for Jupiter area here http://www.evsjupiter.com/main.htm
There is a ton of weather/tides/moon phase/etc information on these two siteshope this helps
