We got some fish and the viz was still garbage
Got stopped by FWC AGAIN today and we passed inspection :)

  • went out from 230-630 today, seas started out at maybe a foot but after an hour or 2 the wind really kicked up from the southeast and made a nasty 2+ chop. viz was 35' on the second reef and 20-25 on the first reef. Lots of macs near the second reef. ended with 2 bugs and a hog - got enough mac in the freezer for a while. Also noticed more and more groupers around the 2nd reef, hopefully the legal ones stick around when season opens up. I hope the conditions are better for anyone going out tomorrow, and if not then hangin out at the bar til midnight is a good backup plan.

He got a nice reef fish and I got 1 mangrove and 1 mutton
I saw a 4f sting ray on the bottom. Also saw 2 dolphin suddenly appear a little under and to the right of me that gave me a jolt at how big and close they were to me the instant I first saw 2 six foot fish that close :@
Tons of beach buns today :yay:

  • Late report for 4/2.
Out with Scott today near Ft Lauderdale.
Amazing weather and air temp, water was still a bit cool as I was comfortable in my 3 mil and even got a little chilly near the end.
Seas were <1' from start to finish
    Vis: ~20' in 30'
    Current minimal.
We hit the second reef and on my second drop I nailed a 20" Spanish mack who swam right under me on my descent. Not much going on after that so we headed into the first where I got a 20" hog (my largest so far :D ) and then a 15" hog to finish the day. Scott also got a nice Spanish and a hog both I believe on the first reef. All in all not a bad day for only about 3 hours in the water. Not too many boats near us and as Hau mentioned lots of beach buns on their morning run. :cool2:
