Finally I'm finishing my speargun! It is a 140 (56 inches) for blue water.
I used Brasilian mohogany (Swietenia macrophylla) and Pequiá (Caryocar Villosum) and a Pursuit reverse mechanism. It will use 8.0 mm shaft and 4 bands. look the pics (they are not so good). I'll post more pics with bands and shaft later.

Kleberson

Nice job! Pursuit mech? Awesome!
I believe they are made by NILETEC, i dont know if Dan and Ihab collaborated or if they are simply made for Pursuit.

Very nice work Kleberson. The handle is exquisite. What kind of finish are you spraying there?
The mechs are made for Pursuit by Niletech.

Sexy gun.:thumbsup2:

Thanks everyone!
Dan
The finish is epoxy resin diluted by isopropyl alcohol. What kind of finish are you spraying there?

How long does it take to dry on the gun? It doesn't clog up the spray gun?

It begins to dry after 15 or 20 minutes. No, it doesn't clog up the spray gun, but you have to work with certain pressure and dilution.
After the work in each aplication wash the spray gun with thinner and everything is ok! -
very cool tip...i bet that saves a lot of headache in finishing..
....Dan, do you think the alcohol has the effect of making it penetrate like xylene or just thin it?

I'm not Dan but...
You're better off not thinning it, adding solvent will lower the viscosity, but it also degrades the resin, physical properties drop when you add anything not in the original formula. Is also does little to help penetration, so you don't really gain much for the downside of weakening the resin. Some people claim adding as much as 50% of some type of solvent works great, but if you’ve ever seen what it does to resin you’d think differently. This applies to both epoxy and polyester. Many of the penetrating epoxies on the market are just normal epoxies with a great deal of low cost solvent added, then they jack up the price.Thinning reduces the dissolved solids and strength of the resin as much as 35%.

Nice gun
be carefull when using anything thinned with alcohol , alcohol is the bridge between oil and water and makes petroleum and other chemicals water soluble( think of how ethonal sucks water into your gas on a boat ) and they enter the skin on contact .

Judah, I'm not qualified to answer this. Sounds like penetrating epoxy to me but I've never used anything other than Xylene.

love the handle, very nice work.

Ok Phil and Paul thanks for the informations! But look, only in the last two aplications was made with diluted resin using spray gun. I did this for a better finishing. The three firsts application was made using paint-brush and resin without thinner. I believe that the finishing was better like this way.
Cheers
