One more Trini

  • As the title indicates, I'm a Trini, meaning that I come from Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean.

I freedive spearfish only and enjoy putting a shaft in good fish. Fish is tasty and I'll eat it everyday if I'm given the chance. I sometimes go out on boats but use my kayak primarily as it's a cheap way of going to spots up to 5km away on any part of the islands. Could someone tell me how to upload a photo on this forum??

I look forward to participating in this forum, sharing my knowledge and learning a lot from other's experience.

    Bless
    Nicholas

  • This is me with a cobia I shot recently from an evening shoredive. I hope I did this correctly.

Dude george - I don't know those people you're talking about but half my family is from Grenada. the Dopwells and De Cauls. Maybe we could link up for a dive in one of the islands sometime.

Thanks for the welcome and tips on uploading.

  • Serious Cobia!! Yeah man I know the Dopwells and De Cauls well, must have been a hell of a fight with that float line I see in that picture..RESPECT :thumbsup2:

  • I built the gun. It was my first build. I finished it late last year and I'm finishing up another right now. I used a nylon rope on a break-way that day. This one was 40lbs. I shot a 61lb cobia 2 weekends ago that was a lot more troublesome.

George, what's the diving like in St. Vincent? Much life?

  • What size is the one you have now? Why a new one and details... we all like gun porn around here :D
    Pictures of the guns!!!!
Not on the main island but wicked around the Grenadines islands, like Bequia(inhabited) allawash(uninhabited) and many others

  • Trinidad doesn't have clear water. It's true. We are the ass of the Caribbean and things get brown very often.

This is the newest gun I built. I'll be ballasting and balancing it this coming weekend.

I have two more on the way at different stages that I'm also working on.

Edited once, last by nix ().

I beg to differ. When it comes to near shore diving, Trinidad may not have the crystal clear water like The Bahamas or many of the islands higher up the chain (including the sister isle Tobago) but it does have clear water. Its all about timing...the time of the year, the phase of the moon, the tides and the area u dive. I could go into more detail as to the different types of water we get and why but all in all, if you want to get fish you have to be or become a better all round hunter to spearfish in Trinidad because alot more factors come into play than just heading to a spot and diving.
