That was my exact thought when I watched the video. I did a fair amount of diving in south Florida in 1998-2002 and never saw one. Interesting.
There seems to be this one spot here between the reefs where I find them quite regularly in the sand.

Thanks for the vid. Nice music. Never seen a lobster escape so slow

Thats the beauty of 120 frames per second lol
So in a last minute trip to the beach with an out of town friend. I decided to just mess around with my mask and camera since we were at the beach anyway. I swam out to the reef and found a mermaid with no dive flag, no fins, no top, and swimming goggles, just swimming around in the murky water. (Viz sucked)
But seriously...I do not know this girl. She was out swimming on the reef. I think it may have been a dream. Sorry about the clarity but the water was not cooperating. I have a whole sequence of these shots too BTW

With feet like that I wouldn't need fins either
I get the idea she's a life guard. I do see goggles. Did she see you? How did she react?

I started talking to her and she was friendly...this was a beach with no lifeguards however.
wut
One of the guys I was diving with today saw a manta ray, I got pretty pissed.. been diving literally my entire life, without ever seeing one. Then I log on Speardiver and you see a god damn naked chick swimming on the reef, I've never seen that either. I'm obviously doing something wrong, somebody fill me in.
Hardline, I have literally just had almost a bottle of 12 year old but still I have to say with all honesty "I love you man"
Im lucky to live in a place where i get to see these on a regular basis. I was out just today at American Shoal Lighthouse, and saw one swim right by. Also came about 2 feet from a HUGE turtle as well. Unfortunately, i did not have my camera in my hands but i did get these over the past few months.
I don't see too many rays of any sort up here in Broward. Even stingrays are pretty few and far in between. I've only seen the Spotted Eagle Rays up north in Palm Beach and down your way in the keys...
We see a LOT of eagle rays here. I was laying on the bottom yesterday and one ....big....200 lbs or more comes right up to me. No fear at all. We just hung out together for about 30 seconds.
Beautiful animals.
Got out today off Fort Lauderdale to check conditions, prep for this weekends tournament and see if some of the macks I saw over the weekend were still coming through.
Didn't find any macks or anything really shootable but was still a nice dive nonetheless. Saw quite a few nurse sharks. Including four at one time in a 20ft radius!! Tons of those little carribean squid things, lots of ballyhoo a few barely legal mangroves and one 14-15" mutton that I tried to take a pic of but he wasn't having any part of it.
Here's some pics from today's solo dive.
Great pics Frank.
Cool pics, gonna have to utilize those 6 hours of dive time smart to get fish this weekend

I may let Mark and Judah handle the fishing and I'll be shooting photos and such.
Nice pics Frank. And you're right. Somedays I come home with a feeling like I had a bad day because I didn't get a lot of snappers and no grouper. But Sunday Doc and I were out, just two of us. I was having a blast just diving down, relaxing on the bottom, no stress. And we only saw a couple cuberas and no grouper. I got a nice cero, barracuda and some small dogs. But it was a great day none the less.
I've been thinking of "shooting" with a camera more now too. Thanks for sharing. :thumbsup2:
Quick beach dive to check the conditions. Viz was 15-25ft and seemed to get better as I went out deeper. Current was nil even though the winds were virtually North to South. Didn't see much in the way of fish activity. Saw one cero and that was it as far as edible stuff. Although I did manage to see a parrot fish big enough to have his own remora. Haha.
