hmmm might have to poke some holes in my head then. thanks.
If you do put the hood on first and mark where your ears are,, and I've heard a hot nails the best way to make the hole

yeah, i read that online.
also read that the holes sometimes make people feel nauseous because of unequal temperature around the ears
hank (or sdeisen, if you did the same), where did you put the holes in your suit? i'm guessing putting a few different holes around where my ears are would be the best bet?
I put my hood on, placed my mask where I normally wear it, moved around like I was swimming and then felt where my ear hole was through the hood. I used a mirror and marked the hole with a felt tip pen. Then took the hood off, heated a Phillips screw driver and burned the holes where the marks were. It came out pretty good. You could make more holes too I guess. The key is the one right over the ear hole though so water can go in and out.
Went down south for Mini Season last month and got some nice catches...here's some of the pics.
Lobster were grabbed freediving and on third lung and all fish were shot freediving only
Spotted Moray
FWC circling our boat
Nice Gag caught right at the end before heading back in on day two.
Guy flats fishing with no boat pretty far from shore:
Limited out on Reds as well
Nice pics.
Really well done. Love the macros
Man those pics are awesome !!! :thumbsup2:

For those that put holes in their hood for the ears. Have you done this for colder waters as well?

LOL. I was wondering about temps in the 50 to 70 range. Cold is a relative term I guess. I hear that the cold water can cause bony build ups in the ear canal? Is it surfers ear? Anyway the suction on the ear is annoying and I was thinking about doing this to my suit. I just don't want cauliflower ear on the inside of my ear canal.
ooh! please tell.
Nice pics bro.
For the records: I've never perforated any of my wetsuits at the ears area. I've read that Martin Stephanek recommends that, but other extreme freedivers don't. So I think it is a question of personal prefference.
very nice pictures.
Re ear holes. I know cold water can cause problems after prolonged, multiple exposure. I had a good buddy in Hawaii I used to surf with a lot who was from San Fran area. He talked real loud because, even at the young age of 25, his ear canal was closed a bit, he said from exposure.
So, before I burn holes in a cold water wetsuit, I would talk to guys from there. I would guess the thickness of the hood would stop it from bending into the ear hole with pressure. ??
ooh! please tell.
I have begun helping the University of Miami in their shark research and tagging program!
RJ Dunlap Marine Conservation Program
I can tell you it feels weird being in the water with a big shark and no speargun.
What are you allowed to bring for protection?
I really enjoyed that. Thanks.
I didn't know guitar fish were in the Atlantic. I've never seen one of those here.

That was my exact thought when I watched the video. I did a fair amount of diving in south Florida in 1998-2002 and never saw one. Interesting.
