New to Spearfishing

    Hey All,


    My name is Winston. I grew up in Pasadena and currently live in Newport Beach, CA. I love all types of fishing - I've only been spearfishing twice but both times it was an unbelievable experience. I'm excited to learn more, get some serious gear and get back in the water.


    I am going spearfishing in Catalina (near Two Harbors) in May with a few complete beginners - any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.


    I also enjoy surfing in Orange County. If anyone wants to paddle out - I am happy to share a wave and my boards.

    Howdy and welcome. I hope others from the west coast will chime in too to add advice as it will be a lot more specific.


    Generally take it slow, spend a lot of time diving. Meet other experienced spearos and dive with them. And have a blast. This is the best activity one can do....by yourself
