Here are a couple more would have been IUSA World Record catches that were just one certified scale away from glory. A shark Mackerel (26 lbs) and a Spotted Mackerel (14 lbs) Taken in March 2009 in the same general area as the monster chub.
-
whoa...very cool, the spotted looks like a spanish mak with different colors, and I have never heard of a shark mack...still good eating?
-
It is called a Shark Mackerel because it smells like shark when you cut it open. It was excellent eating that night but they say it tastes like day old canned cat food after freezing.:@
-
interesting, im a fan of day old cat food.
-
141 pound yellowfin taken this weekend off Louisiana

Here's the 54 pound mahi that Don was asking about. It was taken this summer.
The mahi was shot with my little 52" reel gun.
The tuna was shot with my new 68" tuna hybrid looking carbon wrapped gun. I'm very happy with it, handles 5 bands with no accuracy issues and I shoot it with 1 hand. It's the top gun in the picture below. Actually all three guns pictured were used with great success this weekend.
-
The colors on that fish are awesome. Where's the shot?
-
The shot is right behind my hand. I stuck my middle finger in it to get a grip on the fish.
-
i can see the skin stretching. nice.
-
Congrets on the new FSF Dorado record... that is a fine fish, I can see LA has more than just great jazz,
and sweet crayfish.:thumbsup2:
Cheers, Don -
