What do you guys in Florida call this snapper? In Cali we call them Dog Tooth, I got this one in La Paz.
Cheers, Don -
Damn, that's a nice fish.
And I was about to add my little 22pounder.
Thanks,
I think Griswold has a fish that is bigger then mine
Cheers Don -
Looks like a cubera but I think you guys call that a pargo which we here call a dog or mutton snapper.
Are pargo and dog tooth same in MEX?

Yeah, we call them pargo. I don't know about mutton snapper. Dragon Slayer would know.
This fish almost drown me because I was in a hurry as the boat was ready to leave.
I shot him in front of a cave @ 82 feet.I had a good solid shot. When he bullied his way to the cave I short lined him and
started power kicking back to the sunlight. At thirty feet he got sideways and was going ape shit for the bottom,
luckily I came up right by my life guard float as I started to Somba. One would think I would be smart enough to
just let go but I wasn't. Our chase boat came out and picked me up, I was really wasted the rest of the day and
could not dive the next deep spot, trip over. I like the look big pargo give you before you pull the trigger....
''You feel lucky...Mister?''
Cheers, Don -
That's a Pacific cubera. Totally different behavoir than Caribbean cuberas.
Nice fish Don!
-
Thanks Marco.

Cheers, DonWhat was the weight Don?
-
What was the weight Don?
6lbs ... I believe Marco's Pargo is bigger, I'm only 5' 11'' tall.:D
Don -
Dan I had to check my dive notes, it was 60# on a un-certified spring scale. This was the fattest Pargo
I have seen, if you look at his scales you can see the rock marks from our battle. This fish is a pup
compared to the 80.9 World Record.
Don -
60 is much more believable than 6 hahaha

DonShould've been an easy battle - it's only got half a tail.

Ya Think..:D If it had a full tail l 'd still be by his cave.:@
Hey how far North are you?
Cheers, Don -
Anybody ever shoot 27 Lb Chub? HA!!!
-
Damn! I didn't even knew they get that big.
-
Damn! Is that thing real or photoshopped? My book and this site http://www.fish-fishes.com/salt_water_fish/chub_bermuda.html list the world record for Bermuda chub at 13lb.
QuoteSize. Bermuda chub commonly weigh 11⁄2 to 2 pounds and measure 10 to 12 inches in length. Reported maximum lengths and weights vary widely; the all-tackle world record is a 13-pound, 4-ounce Florida fish.
Regardless nice effort
-
It is 100% real. Unfortunatley I cut him up for chum and never got the world record, but I am sure this fish will be the Urban Legand of our forum for years to come.

Can I get an approximate date and location for the fish records gallery?
