Hybrid Danish Style

  • Hi there
Been working for quite a while on a cross over between a US hybrid and our Euro style guns.
We rarely ever see hybrids here in Europe, why it is so I don´t know - but I have decided to give it a try.
My aim has been to give it a more Euro like appearance, with a more curvy stock and a big challenge has been the transition from the stock to the 30mm carbon tube. I will be mounting a Meandros open muzzle.
It is not finished yet but progress has been a bit slow, so I thought I might as well post a few pics.
I will be painting this thing, with final coats of epoxy. Haven´t tried that before, let´s see how that goes :confused1:
I have been talking to the always very helpful Mr. Wong, who has been more than willing to share his experiences of gun building. This guy is amazing - thanks Daryl if you reed this :)

Anyway, here are a few pics - more willl follow as I progress.

  • I really like that pain job! How did you create that effect? If you don't mind me asking.

It is a sort of hydro dip. I pour small amounts of paint on a water surface, and then stir ever so slightly. The colours don't mix at all. My thought was making the ripples decide the pattern - a pattern made by water for water so to speak.
If you google "guitar swirling" there are loads of articles on the subject. - and youtube videos as well.
The white spray dots in the paint are actually pinholes and little bubbles that burst. It is not supposed to be like that and I was going to sand it down and start over again, but looking at it I kind of liked it, reminds me a bit of the dotted whale shark pattern.

  • Wow. This gun is amazing!! All the details, the wood to carbon transition, the seamless handle, the shape, the paint. It is really just stunning!!

I also really like that double muzzle Dan!!!

  • Thanks for all your kind comments - this is how the Danish Hybrid turned out...
I just need to adjust the trigger pins and line release - and a triggerguard of polished steel is on the way.
It hasn't touched water yet and I need to balance it - hope that turns out well.

  • Stunning... if I ever copy a hybird, it will be yours. :toast::toast: The lines, the colors, the execution are amazing. I love that gun!!

    Cheers, Don
