Core's new gun build and gear

  • I did, And you saw it and said that you didn't saw the hole, So i did some sawing it first, But like i say the bottom part rest in top of the pants so no rubbing there, But the damn arm pit is just about 4 inches there that is rubbing, I know it will bother in a long day of hunting, But i guess a little neoprene or Licra will do the trick. And also the conditioner, Because when you get in the shoulder area is all bunched up, so hope that trick will help me put it in place faster.

  • In that case, use the thinnest neoprene you can find and use the technique I just described here.

La próxima vez pregunta antes de cagarla, PUÑETA! :laughing3:

    Marco,
nunca te han dicho que eres una persona muy consiente de los sentimientos y de las necesidades de los de mas? :D

  • Well another chapter on this Mako Brand, I decided to pull the Float out of the Bag to test it. And see all the components. When i filled it up. I notice it was loosing air. Then i notice it was loosing air where the big valve under the black part is. So i proceed to deflate more than 75%. And unscrew the valve mechanism. After i reinstalled the valve. I fille it up again. with same problem. After a close inspection i saw a Gap at the neck of the valve. It was broken:(, a gap about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch wide. The box got home a little beat up i wonder if that happpen during the mail process.:(

So i called mako and told them what the issue was. and they Quickly without to much question change my order and send me another float. with the accesories. Matching the original price. Awesome customer service. And they will send UPS to pick the broken one for free. I notice the first float the material around the neck is a little weak, but i guess that is the deal about the price. Cheaper not always means better.;)
Good thing about this one is that i can fill it up with that liquid plastic stuff to make it stiffer. And will last me a life time. It comes with the belt for the flag. and a 2# weight at the bottom to keep it straight. here is the one i change my order too.:thumbsup2:

  • As you may know, awhile back on this post I mentioned that after much discussion with Alvin I had agreed to make a gun for him, rather than just the blank. I have been watching with a great deal of interest as Alvin laborously repaired the wetsuit and repeatedly tried it on to get it right. I figured I
d better get going on the gun since he now knows where I live!

The blank has been hanging for over a month now, and is still within the .005" of being perfectly flat along the sides and top that it was when I first finished it, with no warp whatsoever. The gun will be a euro style rear handled gun that will be 56" overall, will be 2.0" wide x 1.75" high at the butt end, and 1.75" wide x 1.5" high at the muzzle. The blank has 5 vertical lams with one across the top. West system 105 was used.

I had left the blank slightly oversized, so the first thing was to plane it to final dimensionns. Alvin opted for an enclosed wood track with a dovetailed delrin muzzle reinforcement. This makes the track at the end of the gun a lot more resistant to breaking out if a fish is shot at close range. I had already made the delrin section so the next step is to cut the dovetail in the wood. Then I'll cut the track through both the delrin and the wood at the same time.

Finding the center and depth for the dovetail:

Next I cut the dovetail, tested the fit of the delrin, and shaped the end of the delrin to match the start of the wood track.

So far, so good, Amigo! In the next post I'll continue with the track.

  • Continuing with the delrin installation:

Next comes the cutting of the track. First I cut the sharkfin slot, then come behind it with the ball cutter. I use a 3/16" spiral downcut router bit to get a nice crisp edge on the slot, and a 11/32" ball cutter, which gives a 1/32" clearance for 5/16" shafts but still lets Alvin shoot smallet diam. shafts if he wants.

Now I'll pin the delrin with a #4 x 6" screw that I turned the head down on, and open the first 3" of delrin to make the gun easier to load.

The next post will show the finished track

  • So far, so good, Amigo! I'll try to get the trigger mech installed this afternoon, then tomorrow head to the Tin Man's in Baton Rouge to celebrate a grandchild's birthday and do the handle with Jeff.

  • AMIGO :thumbsup2: :fanwave: I guess it is Born :D. Well what a day. I receive my new plastic float, with flag. knife, belt, stringer, Speargun bag, floatline. :rolleyes1:. I will post pictures later. And the best news of all. My "WOODY" gun is getting build. I'm here drinking a beer to celebrate such a nice day. Plus the story of the spearfishing day of Rodolfo, anthony and Julio, just got me like a crack addict, I want salt water and some fish blood. :laughing3:. Shaking like an addict here, just thinking of shooting something with "WOODY" Now i need to set my trip to PR. to kill something:thumbsup2:

  • Well after seeing Wood Guy starting my little killing machine. I'm almost done with my wetsuit, so I'm missing just the fins and a snorkel and gloves, Most of my gear arrived today:D. thanks to Mako spearguns to their fast service. I got my new float in 2 days. :thumbsup2:. and the other gear got here from a florida store. Here is the big difference between the 2 floats. if you have seen the one baywatch use. and know how big they are. look at the difference in both of them very considerable difference

the new one is hard plastic with belt for the flag, and also have a 2 pound weight on the bottom, and also a little hole plug that you can use to fill with foam to make it more solid and durable.

and the last thing is all the items i got , including a travel bag to fit all my gear, and it will fit about 5 guns. It got 2 Big compartments and 4 little ones. It is 65" long so it will fit most guns and shafts but if the shaft is longer than that. you can use a small pvc tube about 1/2 inch, and use the bag, it got a hole for those purposes. I folded the bag for the picture. riffe knive, Big stringer, 100feet blue floatline, OMER rubber belt:thumbsup2:

I just can taste the salt water getting closer;)

  • Here you go bro. The piece is hard plastic. and the belt is the same as the rubber belts. They get an awesome grip on the plastic float. Also where the flag goes. The hole is wider by a lot. so you need to use the bolt to hold it. Two twists and it holds, But i bet a little adapter to the stick of the flag and will have a tight hold as well no needing the bolt. I bet This plastic holding piece can be made with the delrin Tin man uses.

    enjoy:D

  • That's a nice piece of plastic. The thing about the bolt and the flag sucks though. See if you can find a SS wingnut to fit it.

What I would do is drill the hole out for the diameter of the fuel line hose I use and glue it in there. It's perfect size for the flag poles we have here and holds very well with suction alone.

Naw, it's too little diameter to drill out for the hose.. The adapter on the flag is a better idea if you can find a suitable material.

Of the commercial ones I've seen the Riffe rubber flag pole adapter is the best. I'd make a hole in the belt for it to go through. $11 at SW.

  • What line hose you use for it?. if i can find the hose that will fit the flag. I can do that easily. Because i dont want to be using a screw all the time to secure it. I just wantto pop it in and pull it out:D. Or if you know the diameter hose i can go and try to find one:thumbsup2:

  • I can't remember the diameter off hand and I think I used my last piece a week ago. With the inflatable Riffe like float you got there should be a flag. If it's anything like the Riffe flag then you have the correct flag pole right there. Take it to any auto parts store and make sure it goes in the hose the way it should. They sell those hoses in bulk so you can buy one or two feet. The fit is really good, I usually spit on the pole for it to go easily into the hose. I'm sure you've used this system before.. :laughing3:

  • Get the gloves at Home Depot. Just make sure that you buy the ones made out of Nylon covered with nytrile rubber. They cost about 5$ and last the same as the "diving" gloves.
