Lost Gun

  • Hi Guys,
I lost an Alexander 65" Bluewater yesterday off the back of my ski somewhere between the San Clemente Pier and the Dana Point harbor. I was jamming back after diving and thought my stuff was solid. Guess not. Feeling pretty bummed as its nobody's fault but mine. I'm sure anybody who has lost a gun like this understands the feeling. Anyways, if anybody hears anything please hit me up. Dive report for Power Plant and the Barn 10-15' vis
Lots of bait, no fish. Water about 64. Good time other than a lost Alexander.

  • That sucks, with the prevailing current it could be south of Cottons by now, depending on the shaft and reel it
could be just barely bobbing. I would post a reward on BD before the holiday weekend.

  • Thanks Don. Yeah it barely bobs. I ran around on my ski for a while yesterday because it was so glassy. No luck though. Ill post it as mentioned. Thanks.

I had a hand built 48'' teak gun with inlay I loved...lots of fish and lots of time building her. Was at the hi spot @:nono:with a alpha and dive flag on a outrigger, heard a boat overhead, stayed as long as I could and went up.
Dam...what is that squealing sound...eardrum? Holy shite that's fat jinki mono cutting into my shoulder!
Swept the barrel of my gun to get it off my body and whoosh...gun ripped out of my hand by a
marlin lure.....Fleck!!! Screamed at them as they ran to their pole... and the boat kept pulling away.:(
Swam against a killer current for 10min getting to the swimstep, ran to the bow to pull the chain rode and the windless beaker takes a shite. Finally hump 120' chain on the deck and go to find those Aholes.
Looked all over the island for the day and didn't get in another dive, stared at the stars that night and said
    yep...she's gone.:(

Loosing a nice gun really sucks, I feel for ya mate. Say goodbye to her and think about how bitchin the new one will be.:toast::toast:
    I'll keep my eye out.

    Cheers, Don

  • Wow scary as hell Don. Imagine if the huge lure had hooked you instead of your speargun - what idiots drive these boats? When I lived in South Florida I didn't have a boat and only dove from shore. I tried to get out from Varios locations in Broward at first light and get back before the morons with a drink in hand started flying around in their fancy boats. Idiots. Hope the OP gets his gun back but seems remote.

  • Sorry for the loss. My buddy lost his new rail gun while dealing with a big Lingcod on Friday. Shaft ripped out and he held on to the Ling while the gun sank away. Took us 20 minutes and a bunch of dives but we did find the gun.

Hopefully someone will find the gun and put it in a classified announcement or ??
