Muddalipstick! Freediving Report

  • Freediving 70ft to 100ft most of the day.

Had a great day with my best friend Davie. My grouper was shot in 75ft on a long shot. I had to aim for the body because of the distance of the shot. There were 2 swimming together, and i shot the bigger one. The fish fought a bit, but i horsed him up so he wouldn't hole up.

I dropped down on this wreck, and i saw this Cubera hauling ass. I wasn't close enough to take a shot so i went back up. I decided check deep into the wreck to see where he was at. I took my time on the surface and went down to take a look. I get into the wreck and its pretty dark. I wait for my eyes to adjust and i see 2 Jews and then the Cubera. I slowly aim my gun and fire away. The fish goes nuts and exits the wreck and goes all the way around to the other side. I grab my 2nd gun for jobs like this, 100cm pneumatic, and i go down and place a second shot. I had to cut my mono on my primary gun to untangle the mess.

Cobia was shot at 85ft next to a massive ray.

King Mackerel was shot at 95ft.

How much band pull do you have? Are you using the shaft it came with? If not what size is it? I really like that gun,but some of the specs have me scratching me head. A 130cm shaft seems small for a 110cm??? And a shaft diameter of 7.5mm?

  • Mariner---I'm not speaking for greekdiver, but I prefer a very short spear shaft also. In fact, I have advocated as short a spear shaft as possible for numerous reasons. My spears are just long enough to allow the flopper outside of the muzzle. I've been doing this for years. Again, this is just my personal preference.

Dan--after greekdivers endorsment of your bands and reading the band thread it looks like I'll be stopping over sometime soon IF you have any left :D
I'll need some LONG bands till I heal up :(
