Yes, In our culture roosters are very important in lots of ways, from eggs to cock fights .
Pucho,
Let me ask, as a resident of one of the last lower 48 states that allowed cock fights and a guy with co-workers retiring to the Phillipines so they can raise roosters ...is fighting roosters still as cool in PR as it used to be in OK..?
-
Yes Aaron, cock fights are very strong this days here, almost in every town is a ring or fighting arenas with looooots of good breeders with excellent stocks, now a day you can find plastic spurs, vitamins, medications and all that stuff in every feed store(like 2 - 5 in every town).
Few years ago I help a guy that was making some videos of some of Puerto Ricos cultures and I help with the cock fights, we film few breeders from old school (use dry pigeon peas and fried liver as vitamins) to high tech breeders (with electronic turn table to run the roosters and vitamins and traceelments) was great working with the guy, lots his phone # and dont know what he did with all the filming.
Here is a pic so you get pumped:D

In México cock fights are as controversial as eating tortillas. We have breeders and owners of fighting cocks in almost every single block of the city. I had a few of my own a long time ago, we call the cocks Giro (green and white) and colorado (red)
A colorful theme for painting
