• I know the spot very well, ;) I used to camp with the ponga guys near the fish camp on the point. One year one of the girls
didn't follow by advice to stay on the path and keep her eyes open for rattlers. She took a short cut back from the cove to the jeep and got bit on the thigh. F'ed up out dive weekend when we rushed her back to San Diego, I volunteered to suck out the venom on the ride back.^^
    Cheers, Don

That blows, but I know how she feels I got bit in the calf by a 6 footer when I used to live in colorado... Not a fun experience at all.

Remind me to tell the story of how Jay Riffe bailed out of my rear axle hopping, traction deprived, soon to hang from the drop off, rear wheel drive Ford. :@:@

  • Nice place Monstruo! I have no friggin idea about any kind of snakes. I would invite my friends, buy some cases of beer and organize rattle snakes hunting contests. Maybe you won't get rid of them, but it for sure will be fun!

Now seriously, in my house I had an invasion of iguanas a couple years ago. I bought a pellet rifle and started shooting them. Now, I can't say they have disapeared, but for sure the population has diminished. Additionally, when they see a person, they run as hell!

  • Monsterslayer, find a crop duster that will spray down the lot with garlic juice.^^
That's the word on the street from my son Dillion.....he says he saw it on a exterminator show.
    He says to save a littlle lot for him to lease for 99 years.^^ <img src= " class="smiley" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x" height="23" width="23" loading="eager" data-tooltip="biggrin" aria-label="biggrin">

  • Hahahhaha..

Marco, I have eaten iguana fillets down la costa de Guerrero, they taste like chicken.. sorta <img src= " height="23" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x">

Don, the garlic juice seems like a nice solution, I love garlic myself. Tell Dillion that the advantage of his advice is twofold, I can get rid both of snakes and vampires at the same time :) An for the lease, Mi casa es su casa !! :toast:

    Fuzz, Omer is my hero.

LAdvr, they prey on hares and rabbits, probably on other snakes too. Hares are as abundant as pargos at the reef!! :@

I don't know how to prepare them, but my youngest son loves to hold them!

  • In the words of Indiana Jones " Snakes .... why did it have to be snakes ?".

I have to confess ,fellas...I have a deep, almost crippling fear of snakes. Probably almost phobic . I once refused to accept a copperhead skin backed longbow as I knew I wouldn't shoot, touch or even look at the damn thing. Beautiful bow, too. It's gotten better as I no longer egress dive spots because a sunning water snake decided to go for a dip ( My God ,Alissa used to get so mad at me...here we had cooridnated our schedules ,caught a perfect day with great vis and traveled into Arkansas only to have me with-in a couple of hours go " I'm done. Outta here. Fuckin' snake..."). But while working around my property , summer dog training, early season teal and dove season... my head's on a swivel and snake chaps are worn damn near year round. I used to have a really sadistic german shorthair that would occasionally point a rattler.Rattlesnakes are still somewhat common during the first part of Nov. quail season during the day. Incidentally, I have heard of ALOT of GSP guys whose dog would point rattlers. Not setters or English pointers and not hog snakes, king snakes, or rat snakes. But shorthairs and rattlers are the maddening combo.

Now that I have divulged my handicap and reptillian fear resume .....Tono, if I knew what to do I'd be doing it force around here. Short of paving your property with anti-personnel mines that are set to blow with 8 oz. of pressure , a moat filled with close knit razor wire and mongi ( plural for mongoose ?), and putting your house on stilts with the stilts covered in super-sticky tar pitch...I really don't know.

I have heard that donkeys are hell on snakes . Kill every one they come across.I've heard the same thing about pigs.

    I just really don't know.
