• My dear Uncle gave me some nice oceanview lots at Todos Santos area as a legacy :D The only problem is, the land is full of snakes, it swarms with them. I want to civilize the place with a nice palapa and a bbq grill for sundays, but I am shy cause of" Mr no shoulders", as Aaron calls them. Do you have any ideas to scare them away? :confused1:

    Thanks a lot

  • Is Mexico an "extradition state" ?
Because some of us may not want to leave.
I mean, there is the BBQ to build, the boat docks to build, the main house, the guests houses, etc. Will take some time to build all that (on days that we cannot spear) :thumbsup2:

  • I doubt if my BOS (Bureau Of Support) would understand me stopping my support checks 6 years early :D

Seriously though, I envy you Monster Slayer. You deserve such a "legacy".
I'm sure Aaron will be helpful with your snake problems.
    Again congratulations sir :toast:

  • Thanks Hau. One of my lifetime projects is to make a place there for friends and fellow spearos to come and enjoy life free of charge. We are working on that cause we are signing an underwater activities club. (along pistoleros del mar) I will keep you updated on this one, cause I want to have a political action committe to represent spearo interests before mexican authorities. International members would be great to achieve that goal.

    Cheers for that

  • I don't think you can scare them away, they aren't that smart. You'll have to build a small mesh sized screen fence, the bummer is it has to be dug into the dirt about six inches. I worked with reptiles on my masters thesis in the desert and we came across a lot of snakes but non in our enclosed areas.

  • Chris, that is some solid advice, I was thinking on a chicken kind of fence to avoid digging critters too. I guess if it´s good enough for other reptiles it would be good enough for snakes too.

I can tell snakes are not those aggressive nightmarish monsters portrayed in local myths, but they are still dangerous to pet and children though.

  • Nice place monster. I admit I know nothing about snakes and if they are considered a nuisance species in Mexico with freedom to get at them at will. I actually would see a little business venture. Aren't snake skin a sort of commodity? Not sure it would be too difficult to start harvesting them and peel skin off and sell them off. It would be interesting to see what Aaron says as undoubtely I may way off on my proposal.

  • L.B. I would hate to see a dog getting hurt by a snake, but the idea crossed my mind ! :reddevil:+

It would be perfect if you come someday.

Rolo. Around here they keep saying that rattle snakes cure cancer, so just imagine :cash: I have the feeling they are protected tho

  • see if you can rally up some texas indigos, theres no real way to remove the snakes without killing them or relocating them. If you can wrangle up some texas indigos theyll eat the other snakes and they arent poisonous or dangerous. they grow to about 8 feet so anything under say 4 ft is food. rattlesnake meat tastes good if any are big enough to eat.

  • I know the spot very well, ;) I used to camp with the ponga guys near the fish camp on the point. One year one of the girls
didn't follow my advice to stay on the path and keep her eyes open for rattlers. She took a short cut back from the cove to the jeep and got bit on the thigh. F'ed up the dive weekend when we rushed her back to San Diego, I volunteered to suck out the venom on the ride back.:D
    Cheers, Don
