How much have you spent on spearfishing?

  • I was kinda curious to see how much I've spent in spearfishing since I started 4 years ago. So I added it all up, as close as I could from memory. I'm probably missing a lot of extra expenses, but this should cover the bulk of my expenses. It's interesting to see it all laid out like this. Feel free to add up your expenses and see what you've spent.

  • I'm on boat #6, do I get to add up the repairs and maint? If I add it all up I may have to start taking one of those depression meds... :@

  • you haven't spent enough, i suggest you stop counting.;)

  • Boats, gear, guns....$40,000?
BUT, I pretty much break even on trips now based on what I would spend for the fish I bring home. At least I'm covering my gas bill and small motor maintenance.

  • Instead of a image of burning C-notes I see spearfishing as a healer of the broken, a blue path to my health
and well being, and a before I was childless, a way to follow my bliss.
    Cheers Don Paul

I think I spent 2x that one day on a vet bill that extended my dogs life about 36 hours. I'd do it again. But that probably also explains why my total gear cost is probably less than 2k. I hope the picture Don posted is where she is now.

    Thanks Don great pic.

Thanks and sorry guys and Daniel. Didn't mean to get heavy or derail. Enough time has passed but Don's picture made me think and actually gave me a chuckle about how seriously cheap I am:D on some spending like spear gear but will blow it on other things like dogs.

Most of my gear is second hand, no all of it is..:thumbsup2:

    Rerail.

Me too! Except for the neoprene.

The nice thing about So Cal is that a boat is not needed to score some good eats.
