Broward Beach Conditions

  • spearos--I'm goin spearin early this morning [7-23] if anyone wants to join me please to call or text me.

woodshooter---I can do 8-noon Friday if you want to go. I do not know what the weather will be, but you can use the Hobie if you want and the weather is good. Let me know.

Toledo970----you are not old until you get "assigned" an old man avitar, like I did^^ [I love my avitar]

spearos---what is your guess that those big fish at 120f were?
My Hummingbird Pirrahana ff showed the biggest fish symbol possible and the bottom looked very flat with no structure at all. The screen showed fish after fish with every fish on the bottom, not one fish was more that 3 feet off the sea bottom.
My only guess was that they were cobia migrating back north.
Anyone have an idea what they were?

  • hmm hau, i suspect you are right.. at those depths and with no visible relief it seems unlikely they would be either snapper or grouper.

I am going to try for some blue water this weekend with dave suarez. if the weather keeps us shallow i will be down for meade on either weekend day

Today was a beautiful yak spearing day with flat seas, no current, and ok viz^^
Saw one of our yak spearos with his brand yellow scupper pro:thumbup:

  • Hau,
My curiosity got the best of me. Maybe you've posted before, but do you mind posting a pic of your kayak set up? Dive flag placement, fish storage, securing guns, etc...

  • Nothing still have it. I owe you a trip^^. I like how the jet ski guys made do with what they have. Just wanna see some innovation on yaks...

  • Mariner---sorry, I have no pictures of my Scupperpro
I will take some and post them
My set up is pretty easy==everything including guns and cooler is stowed down below through the hatches
Scupperpro is one of the very few yaks that even ur yak paddle will fit down through the hatches
    Scupperpro gives u wings :)

  • My guess is that those big fish are snook congregating for spawning.

We saw a school of over100 fish all over a reef in 60fsw. The average weight was about 40-50 lbs.

  • pargo---I have been taking the camera out with me every dive and taking some pictures, but that is as far I as got so far. Gotta find time to down load the program onto my laptop and read the camera instructions. Sorry:(
I also started working more nights a week now and worked 6 12hour nights last week so I'm not gettin much slack time between working and spearin.^^

  • yesterday had a great day with hau, that guy really knows where the fish are hiding at. we planned on going out to the 3rd reef but the seas kept us at the 2nd reef instead. he called me over to point out a good spot to drop in at an bang! i got me a nice hog, the rest of the dive i stalked schoolmasters, and a dog snapper. i drifted over the sand and secured me a nice mutton and picked up a personal best trigger (7lbs 8oz.) over all a good day diving with hau.

  • I'd like a pic of ANYTHING hau...hint hint

hahah just messing with you....but seriously, pics man....do i need to come over and teach you how to upload them to your computer and then post them? I will if you need it, just PM me or openly ask for lame tech advice :)
