Another spearo called an asked if I was spearin an I said no. Then the sky broke an I changed my mind an went out late and was glad I did. Sea was almost flat and the sun came out and brightened up the reef. I only got 2 hogs but was just glad to be spearin.

  • Wish we would have had that same vis man, it went from bad to worse just a little North of there. Still managed a hog though and Ben got decent grouper and a lion fish. Glad I got in if we aren't going to for a while. Just that time of year I guess.

Another spearo called an asked if I was spearin an I said no. Then the sky broke an I changed my mind an went out late and was glad I did. Sea was almost flat and the sun came out and brightened up the reef and the air warmed up. Viz was as bad as I was afraid that it might be, but it just felt good being back in the water after so many days dry. I just shot some small reef fish to check out a new reel I got. Hope tomorrow is better temp AND viz.
Oh, and the water is getting COLD for this old man. May have to break out my brand new Pursuit 5mm open cell blue camo soon 8)

  • I'll fill in for Hau today since he didnt dive.... and missed out on AWESOME conditions!!! lol

Viz was 50ft in the 1st and 2nd reefs. Clear, blueish water was everywhere. I hit up some spots on the first reef looking for some big winter hogs that wern't home. Moved out to a super secret spot in 35' and didnt find anyone home there. Hit up a barge in 70' and found a nice grouper, and lost track of a 30lb+ red. I'm going back tomorrow for him, cuz I know hes there.

Current was light, running south most of the day from 11am-3pm. seas 2-4ft a little bumpy, but nothing too bad. wind was light. GREAT day on the water!!

Like fishingdude said, seas and viz was WAY better today so I went deeper to see how my post sickness breath hold was. I was limited to a 2min 55sec breathhold so I only got 1 32in mac.
Today was a beautiful day to be yak freediving spearfishing

  • A "30lb + Red"? Really? Dude, make sure you take all necessary paper work and get that sucker certified. You'll have the record beat twice over.:@ Good luck.

As I said earlier, I lost track of him. But if I do get him, he wont be a record... the record is 42lbs.
