The Adventures of Thumper

  • I used a vacuum to get the hull down to a size that would allow the boat to be moved off my sons back patio
and to the garage/boat house where the trailer now lives. Looking at her now she looks like a easy move for a 200 lb man with a mission, but damn what a Flecker. Balky dead weight like a fat passed out drunk.

    Cheers, Don

  • yeah , when moving dead clumsy weight you need to be careful with you back, it is easy to slip a disk and be out of commission for a couple weeks . good luck :thumbsup2:

Be safe ... Happy hunting .

  • Put some backpack straps on it, bring along a floor pump. Youve got yourself an XL banksboard!

That really is amazing. Don do you have any idea about this boats life before you got it? Wonder if it was dropped out of a plane in a similar configuration at one point lol.

There is a Navy doc about a 1/2'' thick that covers packing and deployment with the motor attached.

I have no knowledge of the boats past service history, other then she transported divers.

The roll up floor was out of the boat in the picture, I'll post the stowed dimensions and wt later.

  • My side of the garage is a wee bit cramped, the other side has my gym and heavy bag, time to regroup.
At least the trailer and boat have 3' after the door closes. Next project is to add 2 more bunk boards and brackets to support the tubes. Good news is I am only a couple miles to the launch ramp, unless I harass the LA
    and San Diego guys.;)

  • This Monark rowing machine was a expensive purchase at 300 bucks back in 1979:@, I was impressed with the hi quality 6061 Aluminum and hard black anodize. I have only worn out 1 pair of rams in all this years and it has served me well. Just as I was on the phone to order heavy wall rectangle tubing it caught my eye, it will now have a new life as the front bow board bunk and side bunk bracket after a little demo work and fab. Even matches the hull non-color.;) Now where did I stow my Zink chromate?

  • I saw this and thought you might be interested.

  • Centered, mounted, and drilled the transom for mounting the motor.Need to remove it prep and paint the rusty mount sleeve and detail the motor. Received my hypalon rub strake for the side of the tube, waiting for more expensive two part glue. Finally worked out the design of the radar arch/ gun rack. The challenge was building something that could articulate down to a height the would fit under the garage door when the boat is on the trailer. More on that when I get the remaining bits.

Yesterday I drove to Julian to pick up my newest crew mate, Kauai, a 3 month old Bengal hybrid. She will be in charge of fish processing this summer.
