Trip video Dauphin Island

Took a friend from France to the close rigs a couple of weeks ago. Was his first time diving the Gulf.

He had the Go pro, and made the video. I think he did a great job to shoot those fish in all of that bad vis and current for his first time on the rigs. He is the first real fish killer that I have had on my boat in a long time (besides myself of course). It was stormy so we stayed in close. Next time we will go farther out to some better spots.

He is definitely the real deal.

Not many freedivers here in the Northern gulf, so it was a pleasure to dive with another one. Those were not great spots, close to shore, strong current, bad vis, and a little sharkey. The entire time in the water may have been 3 hours due to the weather.

Still a good time.

I Shot this Jack a couple of days later. I figured if he could eat one, so could I. Really wasn't that bad. Don't think I would try to freeze it, but it was good grilled with butter and lemon pepper.

I went back to the same well today, got these mackerel and 1 Cuda. Scared the crap out of a scuba diver, he dove the spot after I got there. I was laying on the bottom in 50ft., he swam over me. I didn't want him to spear me, so I grabbed his arm when he passed over me. I was under a cross member , so he didn't see me until I touched him. He screamed under water and left. He had one of those go pro cameras on his head.

Me, Ced, and my new friend Palao with a number of fish that we got today. Visibility was terrible, and the water was full of jellyfish. Much different from last week when I was spearing in 30ft vis on the same rigs. Everyone did good to kill fish in these conditions. Cooked some of them at my place and had a great visit with Palao and his wife. We turned bad conditions into a good fish dinner, and had some to put in the freezer.

our government has decided that since the snapper are so numerous, we need to close the season on them.

Still like barbecued Cuda with lemon pepper though.
