First time builder

  • Hey guys, I joined to ask some questions of the community about a spear gun build I'm working on. I have a full functioning garage woodshop as wood working is my primary hobby so building a speargun seemed better than buying. I actually have never fished with anything but a pole spear do the gun is a huge learning curve.
I've got a 55" 6 part laminated blank hanging for the past month and I don't have movement yet so hopefully it stays that way.

Look forward to seeing what you do. There's definitely a wealth of knowledge regarding custom wood gun building on here. Use the search function and there's general info galore and lots of specifics too.

  • Welcome mate, great to see another build coming together. Dan's got some great parts if you need any.

  • Thanks for the welcome. I think I'll start a build thread specifically with pics that I can update as well as ask my dumb questions in.
I'm in simi valley ca also in case anybody is close and doesn't have access to the tools they need. My shop is pretty decently equipped with a long bed 8" jointer, 13" planer, table saw, router table, drum sander. . All things I think will come in handy with this build.
