Wahoo speared in Intracoastal Palm Beach County
-
-
Do they really get this kind of visibility in the Intracoastal?
-
I bet it's right by an inlet.
-
At blue heron bridge the water can be crystal, and I've seen eagle Rays in 4 foot of water at the ramp. Technically the intercostal.
-
Holly shite that is cool. Crazy how a shot low in the body cavity can really zap a fish sometimes. Some major organ or blood was lost. I still can't get over how he just drags it by the flopper back to the boat. Was that free shaft?
Thanks for the great post mate.:thumbsup2:Cheers, Don

nice capture congrat,s!;)

I believe it. Have seen wahoo 100 yards off shore in Boynton Beach so it'd be nothing for them to cruise inside on the clean water flood tide.

Are you sure? I thought I saw a wahoo less than a mile off ft lauderdale beach once but literally couldn't believe my eyes and I told myself I must be mistaken. It's not so unbelievable I suppose, the gulf stream is right there.

100%. My friend George shot one on second reef off Dania and got it on video. Will see if I can find that video.

Wow, would be great if you find it, please post.

I've got a wmv video but it's nondescript. All it shows is s diver shooting a wahoo but no background to indicate that it's near shore or even in Dania. You'll just have to take my word for it.
BTW, it was shot in mid September 2011 so if you're going to find wahoo near shore, late summer/early fall seems to be the time.

I have seen them in the Grenadines cruising up and down the shore while standing on a dock!
-
Look at that smile haha. How pumped is he? went out hoping to shoot a 2lb sheepshead and came back with a giant wahoo! What a cool story for him

The Intracoastal water in WPB during high tide has some good viz usually. Thats pretty rad that he found a wahoo there. Seems to be a lot of more pelagic life up that way since the gulf stream comes in closer.
Edit: My Pic to the left was actually shot in WPB intracoastal haha
-
I guess it's possible. Stories pop up all the time of pelagic fish in shallow. Tuna are seen in channels and canals why not a wahoo?
-
Amazing! And free shafting, I guess. :thumbsup2:

A wahoo was speared in LA county earlier in the week. I guess you never know. Keeps things interesting.

I got this wahoo in Tampa Bay April 1st 2015.:D
