Mottled Grouper - Because it had numbers on it there is a chance it is foreign and escaped.
That's my baby! Thanks Seaweed...I knew you'd come through...are you sure you're not Keezkiller? ...You damn spy!

I didn't mean Keezkiller...I meant the other as*&ole!
Quite you!!! Your kind has messed up many a subway sandwich and will pay!!!
Seaweed,
I see this species is not listed anywhere close to P.R. and this is the second one I've speared in the last 4 months.
????
Anyways, thanks for your time and efforts. It sure seems to be the one you found.
The numbers indicate someone is trying to keep track of it. I'm guessing there is a fish farm nearby that has had a couple of fugas or someone is trying to introduce the species.
OK so the fish is ID'd no the puzzle of the tattoo...
I see you missed out on the "w" in "now"...were you saving it for the _eekend?:D
With regards to tattooing fish, may clear something up http://spearfishing.world/showthread.php?t=93
Cabrillas around here may grow a bit, this one is a sardinera. (Micteroperca rosacea) is pretty similar to the Mottled ) Mycteroperca Rubra
Beautiful fish, the spots look like a black. Is that you monster?
yup, i look wierd on that superhero outfit though :bond:
Whatcha talking about? The camo makes you practically invisible against that background of cacti.

Estas afilado!:D
First of all, I would like to thank Pucho and Dan for inviting me to this Forum.:; Some of you already know me...
Second, that fish looks a lot like a "Cuna" as is known in my Country (Venezuela) the species Mycteroperca acutirostris aka Comb grouper.
http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.php?id=9386
I haven't seen any of them since I'm living in Puerto Rico (4 years now...). In Venezuela is pretty common and individuals of up to 3 pounds are very easy to spear. A 7-8 pouder is very wary and are real trophys.
Their meat is one of the best I've tried.
On the other hand, I owe a phone call to Straight shaft but i lost your personal info (even your name). I had some problems with my outlook and lost a lot of information. Please send me a PM with your name and numer to set up a fishing trip together. I went out from Santa Isabel two weeks ago and I could call you to join us...
