  • I'm trying out new rubbers for gun. Today i tested the yellow 16mm high modulus bands from Mori. Overall, i was pleased with results and power. I plan on trying out some Gorilla, 15mm mori, and some rob allen for future tests.

    Today

    Last week

  • Nice looking gun Greek, and I see you know what your doing with the band elongation.
Mori has always had some of the best rubber I have ever tested.

my wishbones were too long but i will test again more rubbers from him. Which rubbers did you test from him?

  • That´s an Abellán, right?
    What happened to your pneumatics?

I still use my pneumatic. I found a gun that was comparable to pneumatic. Abellan Denton 110cm. Really fast shot, powerful, small gun that has range, ect..

  • Greek, sweet gun. You and Memo been talking? :D

I wonder in what holes the Iodine/baking Soda mixture was truly being used.:D

  • Nice fishing Greekdiver. That shaft on the band gun looks almost too short. Is that the one that came with the gun?

yes thats how it comes. 7.5mm shaft and is 130cm long.

I used 5/8 Mori mean green for a few years on my Double gun, however his first batch years ago had possible
curing issues as the band would fail prematurely, elongation was @ 300%.

This year I got some his 15mm from friend it shoots very smooth @300% . I always pre stretch my rubber @
@ 275% for 24 hours, and let them recover for 8 hrs before final cut.

    All the best, Don Paul

  • Man you guys are really picky considering gorilla and whatever other premium brand are probably all made in the same place. At least I know gorilla (Riffe) is. Mean green probably not because I read some negative reviews about it. There's a premier company for manufacturing rubber tubing in the US and if someone is not buying it from them they're buying inferior quality. Call my rubber band material "Pargo" bands if you like, it's as good as they come and due to the custom small ID is better than anything else on the market. I haven't thought about rubber again since I had that batch made.

I understand you're just making the move to band guns. This fast shot, powerful, rangy gun, all that is dependent on is the two 16mm rubbers you have it rigged with and the weight of the shaft. Any other stick with that band load and the same weight shaft will shoot just as powerful and fast and have the same range.

This Abellan gun looks similar to the gun Johnny said you lent him, which he used when he came out with us. It may be the same gun or not, it doesn't matter because they are both Abellan and I can see that the shape of the stock is similar. I held and fired that gun that day. It's a heavy log, very difficult to track and not suitable for the kind of hunting we do here. You don't need that kind of mass to control recoil from two 16mm bands. If I sound a little curt it's because you've always insisted, albeit in a humorous fashion, on the superiority of the pneumatic. Now you found a wood band gun that is "comparable" :) Wait till you try one actually made for our waters.

  • Sure. I will try it out and let you know results. How much you have left of it? What brand is it or who makes it?

I answered your last question in my previous post. I have enough left to make you two bands. Let me know what length you want the bands, what kind of wishbone material and length, and if you want replaceable wishbones or standard. Price is $14 per band. i will order this band material again if there's interest.
