This 2 Guns are what I use, very accurate never had any issues...What I do is replase the shaft with a 6.75 and make the bands and inch or inch in half shorter and or upgrade to an 18mm band.....Both railguns, not that expensive. The X-fire comes with 2 bands as well, on that gun you want to get the black model so that you dont have a problem with the line release......

if there is a good deal to be had on a riffe 3, either the c or s...go for that

The standard series stock is too bulky for my liking.

Get a railgun. Riffes are for pussies...

:agree1: go railguns!!!!!!

For South Florida I would get a 120 to 130 railgun or a 55 to 57 Wood gun. Two bands and a 9/32 or 7.0MM shaft. The Riffe S3 and C3 are good guns but you might be a little under powered at times. As long as you are having fun it really does not matter what gun you have. Some days I go retro and use this old gun that I built in 1976. Still shoots fish and I still have fun.

red tide, as cumbersome as your gun looks I like it and can almost feel the nostalgia, I'll bet you named it I'd like to see some more pics of it close up. Actually it gave me an idea for a new forum photo gallery; member's spearguns. The kingfish is not too shabby either, OK bigger than anything I've ever seen.

It's always hard to get an honest answer to this question.
Everyone always ends up posting there favorite gun as what the OP should get.
Agian I think until you use it don't buy it!
Take up hau on his offer and try out one of his guns, he also has alot of great advice to share with you. Not alot of people would offer up there time and gear like that.

red tide---I love your 1976 gun. Your picture brings back lots of memories AND gun design questions. I do not want to derail jbrewer87s thread but I love that gun design. Todays guns [rear grip]are essentually a 5f long PISTOl held by one hand in the water an trying to hit a 2in high moving target is not my idea of consistant accurate shooting. MUCH better would be an enclosed track gun WITH a stock and BOTH hands on the gun.
jbrewer87---X2 what LOMartin said.
Unless money is no problem for you I would suggest trying several guns out first. Hell, take 4-5 out on each dive an see what fits u. This forum is perfect for this exact situation of checkin out different gear and opinions. Even if 90% of the spearos here shot the exact same gun that doesn't mean you'd be happy with their set up.
Hope this helps -
