The F word ?

  • dan thats just not fair you know telling people not to is like daring us to do it and were gunna. what you should have said was "unless your :hi: you shouldnt click it" then I would have listened...

  • The same thing occurred to me when I saw the pic in the other thread. But then I remembered that Don asked specifically about the Cali section. I guess that's the part of the forum he expects to be showing his son, probably not the bikini thread. Still it wouldn't make sense to try and apply this to one section, we might as well deal with it as a forum wide question. I think I've read %90 of the forum content from the time it started and I don't remember seeing f**k spelled out more than a couple of times, and it might have been by me :) I don't think it's a widespread problem. But if Don wants to draw attention to the issue it's fine by me.

Yes Dan I was just trying to be proactive as Mod of Cali and get some thoughts on future protocol if any.
I don't know that I remember seeing a spelled out F-word and I have no problem keeping my boy off my shoulder. I do not seek any changes just ideas.
    Cheers, Don

  • Don, too bad you removed the pic, it was a particularly nice one. Cuss words can be uncouth depending on the context, and when used in excess. Titties in a natural setting however is not something we should make shameful. One thing that I definitely don't want changed here is our ability to admire the female form, within the boundaries of good taste.

The way I see it is that it's impossible to set rules about good taste. A pic of a nude female or a cuss word in one context may be perfectly acceptable, and a disaster in another. The moment you start to apply rules to encompass certain inappropriate content, you must generalize and are then eliminating other good content. As such I believe that having good content is not achieved by making rules about what's not allowed, but rather making sure that all the members are good guys who are with the program, and I think this is the case here. Most people come already knowing how to behave and really don't need to have things explained, if they cross the line it's because they choose to, at the same time they would have chosen their way out of here. And those who really don't know how to behave, we are under no obligation to educate them, so they can do the same.

I have a feeling which would be hard to define/the vision I have for the forum, but I believe I've been implementing it along the way. I've made mistakes and there have been inevitable conflicts, but overall it's going good. So, if it ain't broke don't fix it. This is not to say that it wasn't good to have brought up this issue Don. It's an opportunity for those of us who care about the forum to consolidate.

  • As one of a few women here, personally, it doesn't bother me. I try not to use that word as it seems unladylike( and it would upset my mother) but I dive with guys and the usage is quite common worldwide.
You didn't ask me but since I am from Cali- there it is.

lol you may have clicked it even after he said that!!! That link was really disturbing lol

I dont think that we should start censorship. Leads to the the proverbial "slippery slope"

  • I usually don't use it. But i know there has been a few time i did. Don you raise something i was not paying attention too. My little 3 year old daughter. She sits there while i type all that. She can't read but i need to be concern in a few years from now. If she mention any bad words i don't want to be the reason for it. ;). We don't use that language around the kids in my house. But when in a boat and ready to go hunt. Is all about the F... Fish that is going to Die. :D

  • My personal opinion is that bad words are as drugs. They both are out there and whoever want to use them, they are available.

This being said, I think that family education is more important than "hiding" things we don't want our kids to do.

Anyway, this is Don's show and I respect Don-Dan's decision.

PS: Don-Dan, sounds like a bell, huh!? :)

This is Dans's Show , I was just asking so I could Mod Cali to a standard acceptable to future members while keeping it loose and fun, I'm good ether way. One of the ways I can learn things quickly is to ask.
