Got out for another short day between work.
Seas were rougher today and viz was lower, but I found 2 macks and one hog before I had to quit.
Saw no jellies today
Built 7--glad you got to get out and thanks for the report sir
Got out yesterday for a little bit solo. Went south of the Hillsborough Inlet in 40 feet of water. Conditions were great despite the SWesterly blow at 20 knots. Vis was 30 plus and no current at all. Got a couple of jacks and a hog. Saw a decent size black laying sideways on the bottom but it took off before I could get too it. Gags were everywhere, even in the shallows. Must have seen 5 of them in the 20-25 inch range. It was pretty nice out there.
Oh, and hand wrangled a couple of lobsters to boot. Didnt have a snare...
forgot my snare too and had to wrestle on suday winds picked up at noon, viz was hazy offshore and in my usual spots, but inshore where its usually murky was clear. LOTS of grouper everywhere they must know season is closed heres a bug from sunday
japsw--that's a nice bug you got there sir. Congratulations
Hau, thanks.
Japsw, that is a nice bug!:thumbsup2:
Nice lobster japs. Seems like when bugs get big, their legs grow long out of proportion, can always tell a big one by his super long legs. :thumbsup2:
Got out today out of desperation.(first reasonable day I've been available.) North of Fort Lauderdale about 1030. Wind was, and is, howlin.Current not tooo bad but movin.
saw no fish and just short lobsters.
But felt great to get wet, and the temperature was good.
Surprisingly saw 0 hogs and 0 Macs, a lot of grunt and nurse sharks.

Today started out perfectly flat and calm and then got worse and worse by the hour.
I stayed til noon and saw few fish and no jellies.
Ended with 2 mack and one 16in boar hog
congrats santiago.. nice to hear about a boar hog in the motherland
hate to show up hau.... but i gotta take the opportunity when it presents its self
went out yesterday morning with my cousin at around 9am (pretty late on our standards). the ocean was PERFECT. probably 30+ foot vis, not a wave in sight. looked like a pool out there. went out to the first ledge and shot a couple of big hogs. i got one of them at around 17", and next to it was a ~22" monster that my cousin took out. shot at another 17 incher but it somehow wrestled itself off the shaft. missed at another hog about 19 inches and missed at a nice sized mack in a school of bluefish.
went back in through the boulders and popped an 18" mangrove over there. stoned a 17" hog about 10 mins later. shot two 14" triggerfish during the day too, could have probably put 10 in the cooler if we had wanted to. shot at a decent sized aj and missed.
my cousin pulled a lobster and we called it a day. heres a pic of the hogs.
*PS, I'LL BE HOME ALL WEEK FROM SPRING BREAK WITH NOTHING TO DO. HOLLER IF YOU WANT TO GO OUT SOMETIME DURING THE MORNING! ANY DAY WILL BE FINE WITH ME!! TEXT ME 305 904 9764 I'M IN PLANTATION, HAVE A CAR, AND CAN CHIP IN FOR PARKING/GAS IF WE DECIDE TO CARPOOL!*
Very nice fish, a rare sight off that beach nowadays. Congrats. The ppl behind you look a little jealous
we had a little crowd checking out our catch. one guy offered $10 for my cousin's hog
Nice hog, don't sell
Nice haul. Especially for 1st reef! Winter is the time to hunt here, it seems. Fish are all over the shallows. Summer drives em into deeper water. See any gags or blacks?
tons of grouper actually. looks like we should be having a good season coming up. i probably saw 7 or 8 of them in the boulders in only about 35 minutes of time out there. saw a ton of them out at the reef too.
very nicely done.
Anyone dive off a waverunner, pwc, etc??
